Observation-based verification of regional/national methane (CH) emission trends is crucial for transparent monitoring and mitigation strategy planning. Although surface observations track the global and sub-hemispheric emission trends well, their sparse spatial coverage limits our ability to assess regional trends. Dense satellite observations complement surface observations, offering a valuable means to validate emission trends, especially in regions where emissions changes are substantial but debated.

Significant progress in determining the molecular origins and resistance mechanisms of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) has improved our understanding of the disease's clinical diversity. These factors greatly impact prognosis in MCL patients. Paleoneurology reconstructs the evolutionary history of nervous systems through direct observations from the fossil record and comparative data from extant species. Although this approach can provide direct evidence of phylogenetic links among species, it is constrained by the availability and quality of data that can be gleaned from the fossil record. Here, we sought to translate brain component relationships in a sample of extant Carnivora to make inferences about brain structure in fossil species.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWhite matter hyperintensities (WMH) are areas of increased lucency visualized on T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) sequences. Over the past 15 years we have been examining WMH in studies of cognitive aging among clinical, community-based, and populations at genetic risk to understand the role of vascular brain injury in Alzheimer's disease (AD) onset, symptom progression, and pathogenesis. Our findings suggest that regional WMH, particularly when distributed in posterior areas, increase risk for clinical AD and contribute to the clinical course of the disease, even among genetic population with relatively low rates of vascular risk factor, like adults with Down syndrome and with autosomal dominant genetic mutations for AD.

Compartmentalized models with coupled catalytic networks are considered as "protocells" in the context of research related to the origin of life. To model the kinetics of a simple cellular uptake-metabolism process, we use a compartmentalized protocell system that combines liposome-encapsulated intravesicular reporter pairs with co-encapsulated enzymes to monitor the membrane transport of a substrate (analyte uptake) and its subsequent enzymatic reaction inside the vesicles (metabolism to the product). The intravesicular chemosensing ensembles consist of the macrocycles cucurbit[7]uril or p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene and matching fluorescent dyes to set up suitable reporter pairs.
