We report experimental results of quantitative imaging in supersonic circular jets by using a monochromatic light probe. An expanding cone of light interrogates a three-dimensional volume of a supersonic steady-state flow from a circular jet. The distortion caused to the spherical wave by the presence of the jet is determined through our measuring normal intensity transport. A cone-beam tomographic algorithm is used to invert wave-front distortion to changes in refractive index introduced by the flow. The refractive index is converted into density whose cross sections reveal shock and other characteristics of the flow.

Renal pseudotumors, which mimic tumors on imaging, pose diagnostic challenges that can lead to unnecessary interventions. Sensing ultrasound localization microscopy (sULM) is an advanced imaging technique that uses ultrasound imaging and microbubbles as sensors to visualize kidney functional units. This study aims to investigate whether sULM could differentiate between renal pseudotumors and tumors based on the presence of glomeruli.

Background: Fetal skeletal dysplasia (FSD) is a group of systemic bone and cartilage disorders that develop prenatally and can be detected using fetal ultrasonography. However, it is unsuitable for skeletal analysis because it is reflected by supersonic waves in the bone cortex. Three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) is a suitable alternative and has improved the differential diagnosis of FSD during pregnancy.

Ultrasound shear wave elastography (SWE) has emerged as a promising non-invasive method for muscle evaluation by assessing the propagation velocity of an induced shear wavefront. In skeletal muscles, the propagation of shear waves is complex, depending not only on the mechanical and acoustic properties of the tissue but also upon its geometry. This study aimed to comprehensively investigate the influence of muscle pennation angle on the shear wave propagation, which is directly related to the shear modulus.

SiO is a widespread molecule found in interstellar space, and its dissociation requires a substantial input of energy due to its high bond energy of 8.34 eV. The present study initially demonstrated across a broad range of ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths (243-288 nm) the one-photon and two-photon dissociation of SiO molecules, which were generated from the laser ablation of a Si rod colliding with an oxygen molecular beam.

Unlabelled: Multiparametric ultrasound (mpUS) enhances prostate cancer (PCa) diagnosis by using multiple imaging modalities. Tissue-mimicking materials (TMM) phantoms, favoured over animal models for ethical and consistency reasons, were created using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with varying molecular weights (Mw).
Methods: Four PVA samples, varying in Mw with constant concertation, were mixed with glycerol, silicon carbide (SiC), and aluminium oxide (AlO).
