We examined the mold filling capacity and microhardness of two industrial 1% Fe titanium alloys: Super-TIX800 (Nippon Steel Corp.) (Fe: 0.910%, O: 0.370%, N: 0.005%) and Super-TIX800N (Nippon Steel Corp.) (Fe: 0.960%, O: 0.300%, N: 0.041%). Two wedge-shaped acrylic patterns (with 30 degrees or 15 degrees angles) were prepared. Each alloy was cast in a centrifugal casting machine. Mold filling was evaluated as the missing length between the tip of the casting and the theoretical tip. Vickers hardness of the edge of the castings was also determined. For both angles tested, there were no significant differences (p>0.05) in mold filling among these alloys and the control (CP Ti). The results of testing the microhardness near the cast surfaces indicated that the hardened reaction layers on these alloys were thinner at the edge compared to CP Ti.

To address the poor hydrolytic stability of CD-MOF in food applications, CD-MOF loaded with thymol (TCDM) was prepared and filled into a pectin (PEC)/sodium alginate (SA) substrate with the aid of zein to obtain a thymol-CD-MOF/zein-PEC-SA (TCDM/ZPS) polymer film. Characterization revealed that zein-PEC/SA (ZPS) protected TCDM by forming amphiphilic microspheres. TCDM was able to exist stably in the hydrophilic polysaccharide substrate and achieve a long-term slow release over 336 h.

In the field of liquid composite moulding (LCM) simulations, a long-standing assumption has dominated-the belief in constant resin viscosity. While effective in many cases, this assumption may not hold for the infusion process, which lasts for an extended period. This impacts the mechanical properties of the cured epoxy, which are crucial for load transfer in polymer structures.

Microsporidia are divergent fungal pathogens that employ a unique harpoon-like apparatus called the polar tube (PT) to invade host cells. The long PT is fired out of the microsporidian spore over the course of just a few hundred milliseconds. Once fired, the PT is thought to pierce the plasma membrane of a target cell and act as a conduit for the transfer of the parasite into the host cell, which initiates infection.

In this study, the biological applications of cultivation methods related to cultivar selection, vegetative growth, and reproductive development in Lentinula edodes cultivation are briefly reviewed to clarify the current situation and inform future developments. The current cultivars widely used in the main production areas are derived from wild strains distributed in northern Asia. The most effective techniques for cultivar identification are molecular markers identified in two nuclear genome datasets and one mitochondrial genome dataset.
