A new recessive, sex-linked, nonlethal in the homozygote, wing mutation in Drosophila virilis was studied using a hybridological assay, light microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The mutants have abnormally small wings; the phenotype is attributed to a cell-autonomous reduction in the size of the epidermal cells of the differentiating wing. The phenotype is also characterized by abnormally oriented wing hairs, wavy wing edge, temperature sensitivity, and some abnormalities in the wing veins.

Molecular profiles can predict which patients will respond to current standard treatment and new targeted therapy regimens. Using data from a highly diverse population of approximately three million in Southeast London and Kent, this study aims to evaluate the prevalence of IDH1 mutation and MGMT promoter methylation in the gliomas diagnosed in adult patients and to explore correlations with patients' demographic and clinicopathological characteristics. Anonymised data on 749 adult patients diagnosed with a glioma in 2015-2019 at King's College Hospital were extracted.

Dysregulated FGF23 production is a demonstrated cause of hypophosphatemia and osteomalacia. Diseases associated with these conditions include phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT) causing tumor induced osteomalacia, various forms of rickets, and fibrous dysplasia (FD). Coexistence of 2 conditions that can increase FGF23 concentrations is rare.

The outstretched wing phenotype in Drosophila melanogaster can be induced by various genetic mutations and environmental perturbations, yet the role of gut-derived signals in coordinating wing development remains largely unexplored. In this study, we demonstrate that Upd2, secreted from the gut to the wing discs, plays a crucial role in regulating the outstretched wing phenotype. The intestinal precursor cell driver esg-Gal4 exhibits low levels of leaky expression, even in the presence of Gal80 at room temperature (25°C).

Background: Transcription factor lark has been demonstrated to play multiple functions in Drosophila, but the function of this gene in embryonic development remains to be elucidated.
Results: In this study, the CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing method was used to construct a Bmlark mutant strain of Bombyx mori to investigate the roles of this gene. The results showed that the homozygous mutant Bmlark was lethal.
