Purpose: To reassess the use of TEST-yolk buffer (TYB) in an in vitro fertilization (IVF) program by comparing fertilization rates achieved in a glucose-free cleavage medium by the standard IVF preparation of sperm versus a 2-h, room temperature incubation of sperm in TYB.
Methods: Oocytes collected for IVF were randomly split into two groups and inseminated with either TYB-treated sperm or IVF-prepared sperm.
Setting: Stanford Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Center.
Patients: Fifty couples undergoing IVF with at least 10 mature oocytes.
Main Outcome Measures: Fertilization rates in vitro.
Results: Fertilization rates were significantly higher (p = 0.015) with TYB treatment. The average 2PN fertilization rate was 49.6% (188/379) for the IVF group and 57.4% (221/385) in the IVF with TYB group.
Conclusions: A 2-h, room temperature incubation of sperm in TYB produces significantly higher 2PN fertilization rates as compared to standard IVF preparation of sperm in a current generation cleavage medium.

Phosphorus (P) plays an essential role for plant growth, but conventional P sources used in agriculture are finite and non-renewable. As a result, there is a growing need to explore alternative P sources such as sewage sludge (SS) - a P-rich solid waste and valuable renewable resource that is often mismanaged globally. Pyrolysis is a promising technique for managing SS.

A 23-year-old woman, conceived by ovulation induction presented at 10 weeks amenorrhea with abdominal pain and a positive urinary Beta HCG. 2D ultrasound suggested a right-sided ectopic pregnancy. On 3D ultrasound imaging, an unicornuate uterus with a right rudimentary horn pregnancy of size 6 cm was diagnosed [Figure 1].

Purpose: Retroverted uterus affects 15-20% of patients. While typically not a cause for concern, some studies suggest a relationship between a retroverted uterus and subfertility. Study objective was to investigate the association between uterine position and spontaneous conception rates, as well as potential risks for adverse pregnancy outcomes in nulliparous patients.

Study Question: Is there a difference in the cumulative live birth rate (CLBR) after fresh testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) compared with the use of either pre-frozen sperm or oocyte freezing for couples experiencing ejaculation failure on the day of oocyte retrieval?
Summary Answer: After adjusting for confounding factors, the use of pre-frozen sperm or the freezing and thawing of oocytes appeared to be as effective as TESA in achieving CLBRs for couples experiencing temporary ejaculation failure.
What Is Known Already: Male patients may be concerned about experiencing temporary ejaculation failure on the day of their partner's oocyte retrieval, in which case they may choose surgical sperm retrieval, oocyte freezing on the day, or have their sperm frozen in advance. However, the clinical efficacy of these three options has not yet been evaluated.

A pot experiment was conducted on arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd) co-contaminated soil to discern the influence of varying proportions of pig manure compost (PM) vis-à-vis chemical fertilizers (NPK) on the mitigation of Cd and As absorption by rice. Our findings illustrated that by increasing the PM proportions from 25 to 100%, it manifested a statistically significant reduction in the mobilized fractions of Cd, accounting for up to 77% reduction in soil CaCl-Cd concentrations. Conversely, the NaHCO-As reactions were contingent on the distinct PM application rates.
