Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes and complications of open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) combined with sartorius muscle iliac bone graft transplantation (SIBFT) in the treatment of displaced femoral neck fractures in middle-aged and young adults.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 26 patients under the age of 60 with displaced femoral neck fractures (Pauwels III or Garden III-IV) treated at our institution between April 2019 to July 2022. All patients underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) through the Smith-Petersen (S-P) approach, augmented with a sartorius muscle iliac bone graft transplantation.

Patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure using percutaneous devices, such as the Amplatzer occluder, is a common treatment for patients with a history of cryptogenic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). Although generally well-tolerated, some patients may develop adverse reactions to the device materials, particularly in the presence of a nickel allergy. Symptoms can include chest pain, rashes, and migraines, which may necessitate surgical removal of the device.

This study investigates the impact of chitosan-based nanofibers on burn wound healing in a rat model. Two formulations of chitosan nanofibers were prepared through electrospinning. The formulations were then incorporated with different amounts of norfloxacin and underwent surface modifications with 2-formylphenylboronic acid.

Background: Biomaterials used in fracture healing hold a significant place in orthopedics. This study aimed to develop biomaterials coated with hydroxyapatite (HA), boric acid (BA), and magnesium (Mg) and investigate their effects on fracture healing.
Methods: Sixty female Wistar Albino rats were included in the study.

Median sternotomy and steel wires for sternal closure are the standard approach for cardiac surgery. An incomplete repair associated with chest wall motion, especially in the presence of predisposing factors, can lead to life-threatening deep sternal wound infection, also known as mediastinitis, in 2-5% of cases. Despite current antibiotic and surgical treatments, mediastinitis is associated with a 10-40% mortality rate and a significant increase in morbidity and hospital stay.
