Background And Purpose: Sparse information is available on the correct interpretation of elevated high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) in confirmed muscular dystrophies.
Methods: Serum concentrations of hs-cTn T (hs-cTnT) and hs-cTn I (hs-cTnI) were determined in 35 stable outpatients with confirmed skeletal muscle dystrophies. We calculated sensitivities, specificities, and positive and negative predictive values of hs-cTnT and hs-cTnI for identification of cardiac involvement using a comprehensive definition that included diastolic left ventricular and right ventricular function, strain analysis using two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiogram and magnetic resonance imaging, myocardial biopsies, and consideration of a variety of triggers for cardiac injury, including arrhythmias, conduction disorders, and hypoxemia due to respiratory failure.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by vascular thrombosis and obstetric morbidity, with accurate laboratory examination of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) being crucial for diagnosis. This study focused on anti-β2 glycoprotein I (aβ2GPI) antibodies and aimed to establish the first population-based cutoff values for aβ2GPI IgA/IgM/IgG antibodies in non-pregnant women of reproductive age in Southwest China. The study cohort comprised 181 healthy women of reproductive age for study.

Objectives: Recently published 2023 ACR/EULAR APS classification criteria emphasize the importance of quantifying single-, double-, and triple-antiphospholipid antibody positivity, distinguishing between IgG and IgM isotypes, and delineating moderate/high levels of anticardiolipin (aCL) and anti-β2 glycoprotein I (anti-β2GPI) antibodies. We aimed to establish clinically important moderate/high thresholds for aCL and anti-β2GPI IgG/IgM chemiluminescent immunoassays (CLIA), in particular QUANTA Flash, comparable to our in-house ELISAs used for over two decades, and to evaluate their diagnostic performance.
Methods: QUANTA Flash CLIA and in-house ELISAs were used to measure aCL and anti-β2GPI IgG/IgM.

SARS-CoV-2 affects multiple organ systems, including the cardiovascular system, leading to immediate and long-term cardiovascular complications. Acute myocardial injury is one of the earliest and most common cardiac issues in the acute phase of COVID-19. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) levels in predicting in-hospital mortality among hospitalised COVID-19 patients.

: Postoperative myocardial injury, as detected by an elevated concentration of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI), is a common complication in cardiac surgery that may be linked to mortality. The primary aim of this study was to assess the risk factors associated with increased myocardial injury in patients undergoing minimally invasive mitral valve surgery. : In this retrospective monocentric cohort study, we analyzed all patients who underwent elective minimally invasive mitral valve surgery between January 2019 and December 2022 and were subsequently admitted to our intensive care unit.
