Background: Lymphatic collecting vessels in the kidney are critical in clearing interstitial fluid, macromolecules, and infiltrating immune cells. Dysfunction of the lymphatic vessels can disrupt this process and exacerbate injury-associated inflammation in many disease conditions. We previously found that sodium accumulates within the kidney interstitium during proteinuric kidney injury and elevated sodium environments stimulate isolevuglandin production in antigen-presenting cells, stimulating T cells, and modulating inflammatory responses.

Objective: To evaluate the indicators of an animal model of gouty arthritis (GA) with dampness heat accumulation and the intervention effect of Tongfeng Qingxiao formula (, TFQXF).

Methods: Seventy-two healthy adult Sprague?Dawley male rats were selected and randomly divided into a normal group, model group, low-dose group, medium-dose group, high-dose group, and diclofenac group using a random number table method, with 12 rats in each group. After group intervention, the general condition of the rats in each group was monitored and recorded, and the swelling index was measured.

The Ednrb-Aim2-AKT axis regulates neural crest-derived melanoblast proliferation during early development.

Development

November 2024

Laboratory of Developmental Cell Biology and Disease, State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology, Optometry and Visual Science, Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, 325027, China.

Ednrb is specifically required to develop neural crest (NC) stem cell-derived lineages. However, it is still unknown why Ednrb signaling is only needed for the early development of melanoblasts in the skin and eye. We show that Ednrb is required for the proliferation of melanoblasts during early mouse development.

YAP signaling orchestrates the endothelin-1-guided invadopodia formation in high-grade serous ovarian cancer.

Biosci Rep

December 2024

Preclinical Models and New Therapeutic Agents Unit, Istituto di Ricovero e Cura a Carattere Scientifico (IRCCS), Regina Elena National Cancer Institute, Rome, Italy.

The high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HG-SOC) is a notoriously challenging disease, characterized by a rapid peritoneal dissemination. HG-SOC cells leverage actin-rich membrane protrusions, known as invadopodia, to degrade the surrounding extracellular matrix (ECM) and invade, initiating the metastatic cascade. In HG-SOC, the endothelin-1 (ET-1)/endothelin A receptor (ETAR)-driven signaling coordinates invadopodia activity, however how this axis integrates pro-oncogenic signaling routes, as YAP-driven one, impacting on the invadopodia-mediated ECM degradation and metastatic progression, deserves a deeper investigation.

Glioblastoma (GBM) poses significant challenges regarding complete tumor removal due to its heterogeneity and invasiveness, emphasizing the need for effective therapeutic options. In the last two decades, fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS), employing fluorophores such as 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) to enhance tumor delineation, has gained attraction among neurosurgeons. However, some low-grade tumors do not show any accumulation of the tracers, and the lack of patient stratification represents an important limitation.
