Medium depth peels.

Facial Plast Surg Clin North Am

Manhattan Eye Ear & Throat Hospital, 210 East 64th Street, New York, NY 10021, USA.

Published: August 2004

Medium depth chemical peels offer an excellent tool for skin rejuvenation. The improvement in rhytids, dyschromias, and photodamage with relatively little downtime confirms its importance in the facial plastic armamentarium.

Objectives: To survey kilovoltage (kV) radiotherapy in the UK, updating a 2016 study, focussing on radiotherapy physics, including equipment quality control (QC) and radiation dosimetry, with information on installed equipment and clinical activity.

Methods: All UK radiotherapy physics departments (n = 68) were invited to complete a comprehensive survey. An analysis of the installed equipment base, patient numbers, clinical activity, QC testing and radiation dosimetry processes were undertaken.

Efficacy of hyperimmunized egg yolk antibodies (IgY) against Campylobacter jejuni: In Vitro and In Vivo evaluations.

Poult Sci

Prestage Department of Poultry Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC 27695-7608. Electronic address:

Campylobacter infections are a prevalent cause of diarrheal disease in humans and are the most significant zoonotic pathogens worldwide. Human campylobacteriosis is generally via ingestion of contaminated poultry products. However, based on recent studies chicken egg yolk antibody (IgY) powder has great potential to reduce the cecum load of Campylobacter jejuni (C.

Background: Adverse social exposome (indexed by high national Area Deprivation Index [ADI]) is linked to structural inequities and increased risk of clinical dementia diagnosis, yet linkage to ADRD neuropathology remains largely unknown. Early work from single site brain banks suggests a relationship, but assessment in large national cohorts is needed to increase generalizability and depth, particularly for rarer neuropathology findings.

Objective: Determine the association between adverse social exposome by ADI and ADRD neuropathology for brain donors from 21 Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) brain banks as part of the on‐going Neighborhoods Study.

Na‐Ca exchanger isoform‐3 in Aβ‐induced Alzheimer’s disease pathology.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Western Ontario, London, ON, Canada

Background: The relevance of a plasma membrane Na‐Ca exchanger isoform‐3 protein, NCX3, is widely evidenced in neuronal physiology. However, the mechanisms leading to NCX3 expression deficits in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology and its value as a target in AD pharmacological medicine remain incomplete.

Methods: Inhibition and rescue experiments were performed in cultured primary neurons of 5×FAD mice model of AD using pathological Aβ isolated from a conditioned medium of BHK cells, a cell line which does not constitutively express NCX3, stably transfected with a plasmid expressing human wild type Aβ.

Digital biomarker co‐design with patients and caregivers.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen e. V. (DZNE) Rostock/Greifswald, Rostock, Germany

Background: Using artificial intelligence approaches enable automated assessment and analysis of speech biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease, for example using chatbot technology. However, current chatbots often are unsuitable for people with cognitive impairment. Here, we implemented a user‐centred‐design approach to evaluate and improve usability of a chatbot system for automated speech assessments for people with preclinical, prodromal and early dementia.
