Noncarious, cervical, wedge-shaped, sclerotic lesions are commonly encountered in clinical practice. In such lesions, dentin has been pathologically altered, often resulting in partial or complete obliteration of the dentinal tubules. These lesions are known to respond to etching and bonding differently from normal dentin, leading to complications during clinical treatment. A search of the literature was performed to obtain background information on the most commonly cited etiologic factors, clinical diagnoses, and morphologic and chemical characterizations along with an extensive review of all potential obstacles to bonding the most recent adhesives to such a dentinal substrate. Recent progress in adaptive strategies to render dentin more receptive to resin bonding is emphasized in this article, and the major drawbacks of these strategies are discussed.

Ipomoeassin F (Ipom-F) is a plant-derived macrocyclic resin glycoside that potently inhibits cancer cell growth through blockage of Sec61-mediated protein translocation at the endoplasmic reticulum. Recently, detailed structural information on how Ipom-F binds to Sec61α was obtained using Cryo-EM, which discovered that polar interactions between asparagine-300 (N300) in Sec61α and four oxygens in Ipom-F are crucial. One of the four oxygens is from the carbonyl group at C-4 of the fatty acid chain.

The porous structure, in which many pores are intentionally placed inside the material, has excellent impact energy absorption properties. Recent studies have attempted to fabricate multi-layered porous structures with different mechanical properties within a single porous structure sample, and the mechanical properties of these structures are being elucidated. The key structural components of a wind turbine blade, such as the skin, spar cap, and shear web, are fabricated from fiber-reinforced composite materials. The spar, predominantly manufactured via resin infusion-a process of resin injection and curing in carbon fibers-is prone to initial defects, such as pores, wrinkles, and delamination. This study suggests employing the pultrusion technique for spar production to consistently obtain a uniform cross-section and augment the reliability of both the manufacturing process and the design.

Bonding materials with high thermal and electrical conductivity and reliable resistance to thermal stress are required. The authors have been conducting fundamental research on sintering-type bonding, in which metal micro-fillers are low-temperature sintered in the resin-bonded type electrically conductive adhesives (ECAs), as a new bonding technology, with the aim of easing thermal stress through the resin binder. This study investigated the influence of the kind of additive diluent in epoxy-based ECAs containing silver (Ag) micro-flakes on the microstructure development in the adhesives and the connection properties to metal electrodes.
