Efficient removal and transformation of Cr(VI) from alkaline wastewater to form a ferrochromium spinel multiphase via a modified ferrite process.

Chemosphere

March 2024

School of Environment and Energy, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Solid Wastes Pollution Control and Recycling, South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, Guangdong, 510006, PR China. Electronic address:

Chromium-containing wastewater causes serious environmental pollution due to the harmfulness of Cr(VI). The ferrite process is typically used to treat chromium-containing wastewater and recycle the valuable chromium metal. However, the current ferrite process is unable to fully transform Cr(VI) into chromium ferrite under mild reaction conditions.

Co Nanoparticles Confined in Mesoporous Mo/N Co-Doped Polyhedral Carbon Frameworks towards High-Efficiency Oxygen Reduction.

Chemistry

April 2023

MOE Key Laboratory of New Processing Technology for, Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials, and, Guangxi Key Laboratory of Processing for, Non-Ferrous Metals and Featured Materials, School of Resource, Environment and Materials, Guangxi University, 530004, Nanning, P. R. China.

Exploiting effective non-noble metal electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is crucial for fuel cells and metal-air batteries. Herein, we designed and fabricated Co nanoparticles confined in Mo/N co-doped polyhedral carbon frameworks (Co-NP/MNCF) derived from polyoxometalate-encapsuled metal-organic framework, which showed comparable ORR performance with commercial Pt/C and a larger diffusion-limited current density. Moreover, the Co-NP/MNCF also exhibited excellent ORR stability and methanol tolerance.

Reductive dehalogenation in groundwater by Si-Fe(II) co-precipitates enhanced by internal electric field and low vacancy concentrations.

School of Civil Engineering, Wuhan University, No. 8, East Lake South Road, Wuhan, PR China; State Key Laboratory of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Science, Wuhan University, 430072, China. Electronic address:

Fe(II) and silicate can form Si-Fe(II) co-precipitates in anoxic groundwater and sediments, but their phase composition and reactivity towards subsurface pollutants are largely unknown. Three types of Si-Fe(II) co-precipitations with the same chemical composition, namely Si-Fe(II)-I, Si-Fe(II)-II, and Si-Fe(II)-III, have been synthesized by different hydroxylation sequences in this work. It was found that Si-Fe(II)-III reduce carbon tetrachloride (CT) much faster (k=0.

The polyamide (PA)-12 material used for additive manufacturing was studied in aspects of morphology and their structural properties for basic stages received during 3D laser printing. Samples were real, big-scale production powders. The structure of polymer was evaluated from the crystallinity point of view using XRD, FTIR, and DSC methods and from the surface properties using specific surface evaluation and porosity.

Z-scheme Ag₂S/BiFeO₃ heterojunction composites were successfully prepared through a precipitation method. The morphology and microstructure characterization demonstrate that Ag₂S nanoparticles (30⁻50 nm) are well-decorated on the surfaces of polyhedral BiFeO₃ particles (500⁻800 nm) to form Ag₂S/BiFeO₃ heterojunctions. The photocatalytic and photo-Fenton catalytic activities of the as-derived Ag₂S/BiFeO₃ heterojunction composites were evaluated by the degradation of methyl orange (MO) under visible-light irradiation.
