Objective: To examine the immunological reactions between the peptides of SARS coronavirus (SARS-Cov) S-protein and the serum of SARS patients for identifying the SARS-Cov epitope.
Methods: The peptides from S1 domain of SARS-Cov S-protein were synthesized by peptide synthesizer, and the immunological reaction of the peptides with the serum of SARS patients were examined by means of ELISA.
Results: The optical density value of the immunological reaction of synthesized 8 peptides with SARS patient serum was 1.5-2.6 times higher than that with normal serum.
Conclusion: The 8 peptides from S1 domain of S protein appear to have low immunogenicity to the serum of SARS patients, indicating that these peptides may not be the epitope of the SARS-Cov.

The newly emerged variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) demonstrate resistance to present therapeutic antibodies as well as the capability to evade vaccination-elicited antibodies. JN.1 sublineages were demonstrated as one of the most immune-evasive variants, showing higher neutralization resistance compared to XBB.

COVID-19 has extensively affected the health-care organization with varying impact on different medical specialties. Long term ICU admission is associated with a less familiar complication: the formation of heterotopic ossifications (HO). In this case report we would like to emphasize the unrecognized burden of the coronavirus pandemic in patient care from the perspective of the orthopedic surgeon.

Local health departments can play a critical role in zoonoses surveillance at the human-domestic animal interface, especially when existing public health services and close relationships with community groups can be leveraged. Investigators at Harris County Veterinary Public Health employed a community-based surveillance tool for identifying severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections in dogs and cats in June--December 2021. Diagnosis was made using both RT-qPCR testing of oral and nasal swabs and plaque reduction neutralization testing of serum samples.

Viremia defined as detectable SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the blood is a potential marker of disease severity and prognosis in COVID-19 patients. Here, we determined the frequency of viremia in serum of two independent COVID-19 patient cohorts within the German National Pandemic Cohort Network (German: tionales andemie horten etzwerk, NAPKON) with diagnostic RT-PCR against SARS-CoV-2. A cross-sectional cohort with 1,122 COVID-19 patients (German: , SUEP) and 299 patients recruited in a high-resolution platform with patients at high risk to develop severe courses (German: , HAP) were tested for viremia.

A novel electrochemical microsensor was constructed on a traditional acupuncture needle (AN) and used to monitor a biomarker of the SARS-CoV-2-N protein. The reversible interaction of the borate bond between the -diol in this glycoprotein and the phenylboronic acid in 4-mercaptophenylboronic acid (4-MPBA) was accomplished. This interaction was applied to anchor the SARS-CoV-2-N protein onto 4-MPBA, which was covalently self-assemblied onto electrodeposited AuNPs by the S-Au bond.
