Background: Coronary artery pseudoaneurysm (PSA) is a rare occurrence linked to percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs), infection, or chest trauma, lacking established management guidelines due to its low incidence.
Case Summary: A 78-year-old male with a medical history of triple vessel disease, post coronary artery bypass grafting, heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, presented with intractable left-sided chest pain following a mechanical fall. The initial workup was positive for mildly elevated high-sensitivity troponin and brain natriuretic peptide raising suspicion for a pulmonary embolism; but chest computed tomography angiography revealed an enlarging pericardial haematoma.

Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), a cardiac hormone involved in the regulation of water/sodium balance and blood pressure, is also secreted by endothelial cells, where it exerts protective effects in response to stress. Autophagy is an intracellular self-renewal process involved in the degradation of dysfunctional cytoplasmic elements. ANP was recently reported to act as an extracellular regulator of cardiac autophagy.

Background: Unexpectedly low natriuretic peptide (NP) levels in proportion to heart failure severity are often observed in obese individuals. However, the magnitude of NP elevation in response to acute cardiac stress in obesity has not yet been extensively studied. This study aimed to determine the impact of obesity on the increase in plasma NP in response to cardiac hemodynamic stress during acute coronary syndrome (ACS) attacks.

Introduction: Blunt cardiac injury (BCI), associated with high morbidity and mortality, involves multiple injuries. With no widely accepted gold standard diagnostic test and molecular biomarkers still in debate and far from application in clinical practice, exploring specific molecular biomarkers of BCI is of great significance. The clarification of molecular biomarkers can improve the diagnosis of BCI, leading to more precise care for victims in various situations.
