Many studies suggest that during neuronal development the birthdate of a neuron appears to have significant consequences for its ultimate location and identity. Our past study shows that sympathetic preganglionic neurons (SPN) in mice lacking the reelin gene settle in abnormal positions in the spinal cord. In the present study we determined that birthdate is not a factor contributing to the abnormal position of SPN in reeler. In both normal and reeler mice the period of neurogenesis of SPN was similar, and the final location of SPN in the spinal cord was independent of birthdate. Additionally, we have identified at least two types of ventral interneurons, V1 and V2, that are involved in the production of Reelin and the positioning of SPN in the spinal cord.

Objective: The aim of this study was to quantitatively assess postural stability using force plate center of pressure (COP) parameters in a large sample of Chinese patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM), compare the results with healthy controls, and examine correlations between balance measures (COP parameters, brief Balance Evaluation Systems Test [Brief-BESTest] scores) and clinical assessments, including MRI findings.
Methods: This cross-sectional observational study included 141 patients with DCM (diagnosed from June 2022 to May 2024) and 141 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Postural balance was assessed using COP parameters and Brief-BESTest scores.

Background And Objectives: A simple, quick, and reproducible procedure for distinguishing multiple sclerosis (MS), myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD), and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) at inaugural optic neuritis (ION) could be highly valuable in guiding early management.
Methods: We included all adults admitted to the MS center of Marseille for ION between March 2016 and April 2024, with CSF analysis including the kappa free light chain (K-FLC) index. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to measure the diagnostic ability of the K-FLC index.

Senescent cells (SnCs) accumulate because of aging and external cellular stress throughout the body. They adopt a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) and release inflammatory and degenerative factors that actively contribute to age-related diseases, such as low back pain (LBP). The senolytics, -vanillin and RG-7112, remove SnCs in human intervertebral discs (IVDs) and reduce SASP release, but it is unknown whether they can treat LBP.

Background And Objectives: Current surgical strategies for dumbbell nerve sheath tumors (DNSTs) with cord compression have primarily involved wide spinal exposures with total laminectomy and unilateral facetectomy, often leading to spinal destabilization and requiring fusion, or staged procedures separately addressing the intraspinal and extraforaminal tumor components. This study highlights technical nuances of a novel approach for DNST resection to minimize spinal destabilization and avoid fusion while facilitating safe, single-stage complete resection.
Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted on patients undergoing DNST resection.
