Eleven countries have been certified as malaria free since 2016, but none of these are in subSaharan Africa where elimination challenges are unique. The 1-3-7 focus investigation approach is an implementation strategy that requires case reporting, case investigation/classification, and focal classification/response to be completed one, three, and seven days, respectively, after index case diagnosis. Real-time short-messaging-service reports are sent at each step to add accountability and data transparency.

Cholera outbreaks have been rapidly increasing around the world. While long-term cholera prevention and control measures rely on improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene, oral cholera vaccines (OCVs) are used for prevention and control in the short-to-medium term. OCVs lack the market incentives available in other more profitable disease areas.

Objectives: In gastroenterology, sedation demand is increasing, although elderly patients are more prone to experiencing adverse events. Remimazolam, a novel ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine, may reduce recovery time after endoscopic procedures.
Methods: This study was a secondary analysis of the investigator-initiated trial, which investigated the efficacy and safety of remimazolam in gastrointestinal endoscopy (REM-IICT JP01).

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head accounts for up to 10% of all total hip arthroplasties performed annually. Typically associated with intravascular coagulation, AVN is extremely rare in patients with bleeding disorders such as hemophilia B. In this report, we describe the therapeutic management of a 46-year-old male with hemophilia B, presenting with chronic left hip pain and AVN of the femoral head.

Background: Revision total elbow arthroplasty (rTEA) remains a technically challenging procedure with potential for substantial morbidity. Cases involving excessively long cement mantles, removal of well-fixed implants or infected revisions requiring complete cement removal introduce additional technical challenges. Our purpose was to describe the outcomes, results, and complications associated with the use of cortical windows in rTEA.
