Chondrosarcoma is a malignant tumor characterized by the formation of cartilage. A case of primary cardiac chondrosarcoma of the left atrium developed in a middle-aged male. The preoperative serum concentrations of C-parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) and calcium were high (413.2 pmol/L and 12.2 mg/dl, respectively), but normalized after resection of the tumor, which measured 7 x 5 x 3.5 cm. The tumor was histopathologically diagnosed as chondrosarcoma, composed of outer atypical chondroid cells and inner pleomorphic and spindle mesenchymal cells mimicking malignant fibrous histiocytoma. Half of the cartilaginous tumor cells and a few pleomorphic cells showed cytoplasmic immunoreactivity for PTHrP. The tumor is a possible example of the functional pleiotropy of chondrosarcoma.

Chondrosarcoma (CS) is a malignant bone tumor arising from cartilage-producing cells. The conventional subtype of CS typically develops within a dense cartilaginous matrix, creating an environment deficient in oxygen and nutrients, necessitating metabolic adaptation to ensure proliferation under stress conditions. Although ketone bodies (KBs) are oxidized by extrahepatic tissue cells such as the heart and brain, specific cancer cells, including CS cells, can undergo ketolysis.

Unlabelled: An emergence of evidence suggests that severe COVID-19 is associated with an increased risk of developing breast and gastrointestinal cancers. The aim of this research was to assess the risk of heart tumors development in patients who have had COVID-19.
Methods: A comparative analysis of 173 heart tumors was conducted between 2016 and 2023.

Primary cardiac chondrosarcoma invading the right pulmonary vein is very rare, whereas secondary cardiac chondrosarcoma is relatively common. We reported the 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of primary cardiac chondrosarcoma and pulmonary inflammation misdiagnosed as cardiac malignancy and pulmonary metastasis in a 27-year-old man.

Background: Primary pulmonary artery sarcoma (PAS) is a rare tumor that presents like pulmonary embolism (PE), primary chondrosarcoma in the pulmonary artery is even rarer and few studies have been reported. PAS are commonly misinterpreted as in a clinical setting, many patients initially receive anticoagulant and thrombolysis therapy, but failed to respond. Management of this condition is difficult and prognosis is poor.
