This study demonstrates the advantage of a combined use of chemical and isotopic tools to understand the dissolved organic carbon (DOC) cycle in a regional confined methanogenic aquifer. DOC concentration and carbon isotopic data demonstrate that the soil zone is a primary carbon source of groundwater DOC in areas close to recharge zones. An in-situ DOC source linked to organic rich sediments present in the aquifer matrix is controlling the DOC pool in the central part of the groundwater flow system. DOC fractions, 13C-NMR on fulvic acids and 14C data on DOC and CH4 support the hypothesis that the in-situ DOC source is a terrestrial organic matter and discard the Ordovician bedrock as a source of DOC.

To meet wastewater treatment quality standards for reuse, integrating advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) with Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems (DEWATS) is promising. This study aimed to optimize AOPs (ozonolysis, UV photolysis, TiO photocatalysis) for polishing anaerobic filter (AF) effluent from DEWATS, as an alternative to constructed wetlands. Metrics included pathogen reduction efficiency, post-disinfection regrowth, and effects on physical parameters (pH, EC, turbidity), organic matter (soluble COD, BOD, DOC, humic), and nutrient concentration (ammonium, nitrates, ortho-P).

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) play essential roles in numerous physiological processes and are key targets for drug development. Among them, adhesion GPCRs (aGPCRs) stand out for their unique domain structures and diverse functions. ADGRG2 is a member of the aGPCR family and is involved in the regulation of various systems in the human body, including reproductive, nervous, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurodegenerative disease, with inflammation and oxidative stress in the central nervous system being the main triggers. There are many drugs that reduce the clinical signs of MS, but none of them cure the disease. Food proteins have been shown to contain encrypted peptides that can be released after hydrolysis and exert numerous biological activities.

Introduction: We aimed to investigate risk factors for mortality among older adults (≥ 75 years) with hospital-acquired bloodstream infections (HA-BSI) in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Methods: We included patients aged ≥ 75 years with HA-BSI in ICU from the EUROBACT-2 cohort (2019-2021). Univariable and multivariable analyses were conducted to identify predictors of 28-day mortality.
