Introduction: Kidney transplantation is the preferred treatment for end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), enhancing survival and quality of life. However, kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) are at high risk for bone disorders, particularly low bone turnover disease, which increases fracture risk. Teriparatide, an anabolic agent, may provide a beneficial treatment option for these patients.

Hyperparathyroidism-jaw tumor syndrome (HPT-JT) is a rare hereditary disorder caused by pathogenic gene variants. We report the case of a patient with HPT-JT who carried a novel germline pathogenic variant. A 27-year-old woman presented with thirst, polyuria, fatigue, constipation, and a history of fibro-osseous mandible lesions and endometrial polyps.

Epidemiological data on vitamin D status revealed that, despite various dosage and durations of supplementation, the effectiveness often fails to achieve optimal outcomes. The need for higher doses than previously recommended was suggested, but several modifying factors should be considered, including the level of deficiency, and BMI. The objectives of this post hoc evaluation are to characterize treatment effectiveness based on the applied dose, duration and BMI; and to assess the safety aspects associated with rapid repletion of vitamin D.
