Purpose Of The Study: We report a retrospective series of anterior marginal fractures of the distal radius treated by anterior plating in order to analyze results and identify prognostic factors.
Material And Methods: This continuous series included 22 patients with an anterior marginal fracture of the distal radius treated between 1993 and 1999. Three patients were lost to follow-up. This analysis thus concerned 19 fractures in 15 men and 4 women, mean age 39 years. Surgical reduction and T-plate anterior fixation was used in all cases.
Results: Mean follow-up was 26 months. Anatomic results were satisfactory in 15 patients and poor in one. Function was satisfactory in 17 patients and poor in one. We noted two types of complication: spontaneously regressive reflex dystrophy (n=2) and osteoarthritis which developed in two patients after incomplete reduction.
Discussion: Anterior plating can provide satisfactory results for anterior marginal fractures of the distal radius if anatomic reduction is achieved. This method remains our preferred therapeutic approach with special attention being required for anatomic reduction.

Introduction: Soft-tissue sarcomas arising in the thigh may require total or subtotal compartmentectomy, with subsequent need for functional reconstruction with free functional muscle transfer (FFMT). We present our series, describing a new approach with chimeric propeller antero-lateral thigh-vastus lateralis (ALT-VL) free flap, which allows for independent muscle inset and soft tissue defect resurfacing.
Patient And Methods: A retrospective review of a prospectively maintained database was performed, analyzing all patients referred to Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico, Rome, Italy, between 2018 and 2023 for soft-tissue sarcomas of the thigh requiring wide excision and reconstruction with functional ALT-VL.

Background: Gingival recession has a multifactorial etiology, involving various predisposing and precipitating factors. Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) are often associated with gingival recession and pose challenges due to their complex pathodynamics. There is limited evidence regarding tunnel-based procedures combined with connective tissue grafts (CTGs) for treating recession-associated NCCLs.

Background: Inadequate bowel perfusion is among risk factors for colorectal anastomotic leaks. Perfusion can be assessed with indocyanine green fluorescence angiography (ICG) during colon resections. Possible benefits from its systematic use in high-risk patients with rectal cancer remain inconsistent.

The ribs, sternum, and costal margin provide a rigid, but flexible chest wall that functions to provide protection to the vital cardiothoracic organs, while also allowing for varying levels of respiration based on physiologic need. The latter function is accomplished through various muscular attachments and rib articulations with both the axial spine posteriorly and the sternum anteriorly. The accessory muscles of inspiration rely on the downward slope and outward curve of each rib, which when contracted move the ribs upward and outward, in turn forcing the sternum anterior and increasing the thoracic volume.

Adult tissue stem cells of the anterior pituitary gland, CD9/SOX2-positive cells, are believed to exist in the marginal cell layer (MCL) bordering the residual lumen of the Rathke's pouch. These cells migrate from the intermediate lobe side of the MCL (IL-MCL) to the anterior lobe side of the MCL and may be involved in supplying hormone-producing cells. Previous studies reported that some SOX2-positive cells of the anterior lobe differentiate into skeletal muscle cells.
