Introduction: To the best of our knowledge, a possible predictive relationship between the systemic coagulation-inflammation index (SCI) and arteriovenous fistula (AVF) failure following AVF creation has not yet been examined. We therefore designed this study to examine the predictive ability of SCI on postoperative early AVF failure in patients undergoing primary radiocephalic AVF operation.

Methods: A total of 189 patients who underwent primary radiocephalic AVF operation for hemodialysis access were included in this retrospective observational cohort study, and then divided into two groups according to whether AVF failure occurred within the first 3 months after the operation; as failed AVF group ( = 44) and non-failed AVF group ( = 145).

Association between D-dimer to lymphocyte ratio and in hospital all-cause mortality in elderly patients with sepsis: a cohort of 1123 patients.

Front Cell Infect Microbiol

January 2025

Department of Critical Care Medicine, The Affiliated Hospital, Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu, China.

Background: The D-dimer to lymphocyte ratio (DLR), a novel inflammatory biomarker, had been shown to be related to adverse outcomes in patients with various diseases. However, there was limited research on the relationship between the DLR and adverse outcomes in patients with infectious diseases, particularly those with sepsis. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the association between the DLR and in hospital all-cause mortality in elderly patients with sepsis.

Aim: This study aims to create and validate a novel systematic immune-inflammation-nutrition (SIIN) score to provide a non-invasive and accurate prognostic tool for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients.

Methods: 259 participants diagnosed with HNSCC from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University between 2008 and 2017 was included in this retrospective study. Patients were assigned to training (n=181) and validation (n=78) sets.

Background: To study the relationship between the monocyte/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and coronary artery stenosis in Non-st-elevation acute coronary syndromes (NSTE-ACS) patients of different genders.

Methods: A total of 253 control and 800 NSTE-ACS patients were included, and clinic data (29 items) were also collected. NSTE-ACS patients were divided into low-risk (0-23) and high-risk (≥ 23) groups based on the Synergy between PCI with Taxus and Cardiac Surgery (SYNTAX) score.

Background: In severely injured trauma patients, hypofibrinoginaemia is associated with increased mortality. There is no evidence-based consensus for what constitutes optimal fibrinogen therapy, treatment dose or timing of administration. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the effects of early fibrinogen replacement, either cryoprecipitate or fibrinogen concentrate (FgC) on mortality, transfusion requirements and deep venous thrombosis (DVT).
