Salmonella mycotic thoracic aortic aneurysm is a rare but life-threatening condition. We report a 59-year-old man with two Salmonella mycotic thoracic aortic aneurysms, presented with fever and chills associated with hoarseness due to left vocal cord palsy (Cardiovocal syndrome). Successful endovascular repair was performed using two Talent thoracic stent-graft devices deployed separately to cover the two mycotic aneurysms. Subsequent computed tomography at 12 months after the operation confirmed exclusion of the two pseudoaneurysms with no endoleak. With potent antibiotics and careful surveillance program, endovascular repair is a possible alternative to conventional open surgery in the management of mycotic thoracic aortic aneurysms, especially in high-risk patients.

Background: Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) has become increasingly prevalent for treating asymptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). This study compares the early and late outcomes between EVAR and open aneurysm repair (OAR) in asymptomatic AAA patients.
Methods: A retrospective observational cohort study was conducted involving 564 patients (445 EVAR, 119 OAR) who underwent AAA repair from January 2010 to June 2022.

A pseudoaneurysm is an abnormal dilatation within the wall of a blood vessel due to the formation of a hematoma in the vessel wall after vessel injury. Because of the protective nature of the facial skeleton and the deep location of the lingual artery, the lingual artery pseudoaneurysm is rare. The authors report a case of a 20-year-old male who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including to the mouth, presenting with immediate life-threatening injuries.

Background: Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) use in aortic endovascular interventions, including thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) and endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), may have similar benefits to those seen in coronary and peripheral interventions, but limited utilization and outcome data exist.
Methods: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services claims data were used to identify patients undergoing TEVAR and EVAR from 2016 to 2023. Utilization trends were stratified by region, urbanicity, distressed communities index, community versus academic center, Medicare versus dual enrollment status, indication, urgency, and presence of dissection with malperfusion.

This is an annual report indicating the number and early clinical results of annual vascular treatment performed by vascular surgeons in Japan in 2017, as analyzed by Database Management Committee (DBC) members of the Japanese Society for Vascular Surgery (JSVS). To survey the current status of vascular treatments performed by vascular surgeons in Japan, the DBC members of the JSVS analyzed the vascular treatment data provided by the National Clinical Database, including the number of treatments and early results such as operative and hospital mortality. In total, 137,909 vascular treatments were registered by 1,076 institutions in 2017.
