Total colectomy with a one-stage ileorectostomy was fulfilled in 72 patients (67 children and 5 adult patients) with severe nonspecific ulcerative colitis by the method developed by the author. In 8 of the patients there was constriction of the rectum which required transanal finger bougieurage during the operation. None of the 72 patients had incompetence of the anastomosis. Follow-up observations during many years showed a rather high effect of the operation including the patients who had constriction of the rectum.

The third most prevalent type of cancer in the world, colorectal cancer, poses a significant treatment challenge due to the nonspecific distribution, low efficacy, and high systemic toxicity associated with chemotherapy. To overcome these limitations, a targeted drug delivery system with a high cytotoxicity against cancer cells while maintaining a minimal systemic side effects represents a promising therapeutic approach. Therefore, the aim of this study was to develop an efficient gold nanocarrier for the targeted delivery of the anticancer agent everolimus to Caco-2 cells.

Background: The diagnostic criteria of neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis caused by citrin deficiency (NICCD) have not been established due to non-specific clinical manifestations, and our understanding on the treatment outcome is still limited. We aim to investigate the biochemical characteristics, genetic variants, and treatment outcome of NICCD patients.
Methods: We compared the nutritional status and biochemical characteristics of 55 NICCD infants and 27 idiopathic neonatal cholestasis (INC) infants.
