Surgically remediable epilepsy of the eloquent brain poses the added challenge of preserving function while curing disease. Long-standing epileptogenic lesions have tenacious seizure networks and significant functional reorganizations. Large multilobar lesions may involve multiple functional areas, thereby challenging the limits of functional brain mapping.

Tea plant can enrich a large amount of fluorine (F) in the cell wall of its mature leaves, thus posing the risk of excessive intake of F for tea consumers. This study investigated the effect of foliar calcium (Ca) application (0.05-1 mM) on F accumulation in tea plant leaves by analyzing the association of F with cell wall materials, pectin methylesterification structure, and cell wall genes.

Purpose: Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are the cornerstone of evidence-based medicine. Unfortunately, not all RCTs are based on real data. This serious breach of research integrity compromises the reliability of systematic reviews and meta-analyses, leading to misinformed clinical guidelines and posing a risk to both individual and public health.

Purpose: Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is a brain network disorder closely associated with synaptic loss and has a genetic basis. However, the in vivo whole-brain synaptic changes at the network-level and the underlying gene expression patterns in patients with TLE remain unclear.
Methods: In this study, we utilized a positron emission tomography with the synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2 A radioligand [F]SynVesT-1 cohort and two independent transcriptome datasets to investigate the topological properties of the synaptic density similarity network (SDSN) in TLE and its correlation with significantly dysregulated risk genes.

Ataxin-2 is a protein containing a polyQ extension and intermediate length of polyQ extensions increases the risk of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Down-regulation of Ataxin-2 has been shown to mitigate TDP-43 proteinopathy in ALS models. To identify alternative therapeutic targets that can mitigate TDP-43 toxicity, we examined the interaction between Ataxin-2 and TDP-43.
