To investigate whether sepsis-induced neuroinflammation of medulla visceral zone (MVZ) predominates the systemic inflammation through cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (CAP), and to explore the effect of central anti-inflammation on systemic inflammation. 112 adult Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly divided into sepsis experimental group (n = 56) and neuroinflammation experimental group (n = 56). The two experimental groups were individually randomly divided into control group (n = 8), model group (n = 16), central anti-inflammatory group (n = 16) and vagus transection group (n = 16).

Systemic administration of opioids has been associated with aspiration and swallow dysfunction in humans. We speculated that systemic administration of codeine would induce dysfunctional swallowing and that this effect would have a peripheral component. Experiments were conducted in spontaneously breathing, anesthetized cats.

Introduction: The influence of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) parameters on provoked cardiac effects in different levels of cardiac innervation is not well understood yet. This study examines the effects of VNS on heart rate (HR) modulation across a spectrum of cardiac innervation states, providing data for the potential optimization of VNS in cardiac therapies.
Materials And Methods: Utilizing previously published data from VNS experiments on six sheep with intact innervation, and data of additional experiments in five rabbits post bilateral rostral vagotomy, and four isolated rabbit hearts with additionally removed sympathetic influences, the study explored the impact of diverse VNS parameters on HR.

Background: Electroacupuncture (EA) has been reported to improve intestinal motility in mice with postoperative ileus (POI). Previous studies, however, have yielded heterogeneous results regarding the effect of EA on POI.
Methods: Herein, a POI mouse model was constructed by intestinal manipulation.
