Oxidation-reduction condensation via alkoxydiphenylphosphines (diphenylphosphinite esters) (1), generated in situ from chlorodiphenylphosphine (2) and alcohols, 2,6-dimethyl-1,4-benzoquinone (3), and phenols proceeds smoothly to afford alkyl-aryl ethers in good to high yields under neutral conditions. In a similar fashion, a new and efficient method for the preparation of symmetrical or unsymmetrical dialkyl ethers in good to high yields is established via tetrafluoro-1,4-benzoquinone (fluoranil) (4), alcohols, and 1 formed in situ from (n)BuLi-treated alcohols and 2. This method is applicable also to the etherification of chiral secondary or tertiary alcohols with retention or inversion of configurations. The inverted ethers are afforded by treating chiral alkoxydiphenylphosphines and achiral alcohols, while the reaction of achiral alkoxydiphenylphosphines and chiral alcohols forms retained ethers.

2-Thiohydantoin derivatives, including different substitutions at N-1 and C-5 (5-methyl-, 5-isopropyl-, 1-acetyl-5-methyl-, and 1-acetyl-5-isopropyl-) (1-4, respectively), were synthesized by the known literature methods. In these synthetic pathways, it was reported that enantiomerically pure 2-thiohydantions were obtained in the absence of any solvent via the reaction of L-amino acids with thiourea (1&2) and via the reaction of L-amino acids with NHSCN and acetic anhydride (3&4). However, in this study, in contrary to the previous literature studies, racemic mixtures of 2-thiohydantoins were obtained although the same synthetic methods were used.

We examined participants' abilities to manually estimate one of two perpendicular line segment lengths using curved point-to-point movements. Configurations involved symmetrical, unsymmetrical, and no bisection in upright and rotated orientation alterations to vertical-horizontal (V-H) illusions, where people often perceive longer vertical than horizontal segments for equal segment lengths. Participants used two orthogonally directed movements for length estimations: positively proportional (POS) - where greater fingertip displacement involved longer length estimation between configuration intersection start position and fingertip end, and negatively proportional (NEG) - where greater fingertip displacement from the screen edge start position toward configuration intersection involved a shorter length estimation between configuration intersection and fingertip end.

Chiral allylamines are important structural components in natural products, pharmaceuticals, and chiral catalysts. Herein, we report a cobalt-catalyzed enantioselective reductive coupling of imines with internal alkynes to synthesize chiral allylamines. The reaction is catalyzed by a cobalt complex derived from commercially available bisphosphine ligand utilizing zinc as the electron donor.

The complete conversion of dinitrogen to ammonia mediated by a side-on N-bound carbene-beryllium complex, [NHC-Be(η-N)] has been studied considering both the symmetric and unsymmetric pathways. -heterocyclic carbenes complexed with Be(η-N) moieties were considered substrates in our study. We found that two mechanistic pathways were possible for the reduction of dinitrogen to form ammonia.

The paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the IEEE-16 bus system under different operating conditions. It discusses the selection of suitable decomposition level and wavelet function for analyzing non-stationary signals to enhance power distribution network fault detection. MATLAB/Simulink is used to simulate the system, and transient fault current signals are processed with the MATLAB Wavelet Toolbox.
