Pathologists play a pivotal role in the diagnosis and in the report of the pathological features related to prognosis. To meet these endpoints, the following issues must be addressed: adequate information about the patient history, proper handling of the specimens, identification of the reliable histopathological techniques necessary to reach the more detailed diagnostic information and evaluation of the prognostic variables, and standardized pathological reporting. In this review we discuss a proposal for standardization of sampling and reporting of the urothelial tissues achieved within uropathology. The urologists have a great role in assisting pathologists in the proper examination by providing them with clinical information.

Background: Neck and back pain pathologies are currently the main cause of absenteeism from work in Spain and in the European Union, and represent a high socio-labor, economic and health cost for the Health Systems.
Aim: To assess the effectiveness of a Back School Program of a Spanish mutual insurance company (risk factors, pain and disability scales) in women workers with low back or neck pain.
Design: We combined a descriptive study of first-session data collected in the total sample and a prospective multicenter intervention study in those participants who completed the second and third check-up at 6 and 9 months.

Residual nitrite (NO) and nitrate (NO) have been widely studied in the past few decades for their function to improve processed meat quality and their impact on human health. In this study we examined how the residual nitrite and nitrate (NO) content of major classes of processed meats products (n = 1132) produced locally from three regions (East Coast, Midwest and West Coast) and plant protein-based meat analogues (n = 53) available at retail in the United States was influenced by their composition, processing, and geographical attributes. We also conducted time-dependent depletion studies and observed different patterns of NO depletion and conversion during processing and storage and correlated them with product quality.

Mares with endometrosis exhibit histological changes not only in the endometrium but also in the myometrium that suggest possible functional impairment. Complement functional assays are essential first-tier tests for a gamut of disorders spanning from inborn errors of the immune system which lead to recurrent severe infections, to angioedema attacks, presentation of autoimmune disease, thrombotic microangiopathies and rare kidney disorders. These assays evaluate the activity of the three complement pathways and specific complement components, which helps in differential diagnosis and monitoring disease progression. The rising use of complement inhibitors for treating complement-mediated thrombotic microangiopathies has heightened the demand for personalized treatment plans and laboratory assessment of complement blockage.
