We use the separated-beams method to measure the second-order nonlinear optical tensors of the crystals KTiOPO4, KTiOAsO4, RbTiOPO4, and RbTiOAsO4 for second-harmonic generation of 1064-nm light. Our results agree well with most previous measurements but have improved precision.

In this paper periodically domain-inverted (PDI) ferroelectric crystals are studied using high-resolution X-ray diffraction. Rocking curves and reciprocal-space maps of the principal symmetric Bragg reflections in LiNbO3 (LN) (Λ = 5 µm), KTiOPO4 (KTP) (Λ = 9 µm) and KTiOAsO4 (KTA) (Λ = 39 µm) are presented. For all the samples strong satellite reflections were observed as a consequence of the PDI structure.

Knowledge of the polarization-dependent crystal transmission is important for all wavelength-conversion applications and in particular is the only limitation on possible combinations of wavelengths when one uses the quasi-phase-matching techniques recently developed for the KTP family materials. In this study, polarized transmission spectra of KTiOPO(4) (KTP), RbTiOPO(4), RbTiOAsO(4) (RTA), and KTiOAsO(4) were measured over the 0.

We have measured the thermal expansion and the temperature dependence of z and y components of the refractive index for KTiOPO4 and KTiOAsO4, in the wavelength range 532-1585 nm and temperature range 25-200 degrees C, using an interferometric technique. The measurements were used to derive temperature-dependent Sellmeier equations for the two materials. These equations predict with good agreement the temperature dependence of quasi-phase-matched nonlinear frequency converters.
