The co-condensation of water soluble sodium silicate and different organotrialkoxysilanes in the presence of non-ionic triblock copolymers under acidic conditions provides a very convenient, general and economic one step synthesis methodology for the preparation of organically functionalised mesostructured silica.

Metal halide perovskites have unique luminescent properties that make them an attractive alternative for high quality light-emitting devices. However, the poor stability of perovskites with many defects and the long cycle time for the preparation of perovskite nanocomposites have hindered their production and application. Here, we prepared the perovskite mesostructures by embedding MAPbBr nanocrystals in the mesopores on the surface of silica nanospheres and mixing the nanospheres with silver nanowires and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and further explored their optical properties.

Thermal management is a key link in improving energy utilization and preparing insulation materials with excellent performance is the core technological issue. Complex and irregular pore structures of insulation materials hinder the exploration of structure-property relationships and the further promotion of material performance. Ordered mesoporous silica (OMS) is a kind of porous material with ordered frameworks.

A sample preparation procedure for the analysis of tropane alkaloids (atropine and scopolamine) in multigrain cereal-based baby products (MGBP) has been optimized in this study. The protocol was based on a solid-liquid extraction, followed by purification by solid-phase extraction with MCM-41 functionalised with sulphonic acid groups as sorbent, before the analysis by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry. The method was successfully validated with limits of quantification of 0.

The resistivity of the silica SBA-15 type can be significantly improved by forming a thin layer of carbon on the pore surface. This is possible through the carbonization reaction of a surfactant used as a structure-directing agent in the synthesis of mesostructured silica materials. The synthesis of this type of silica-carbon composite (SBA-C) is based on the use of sulfuric acid to create a carbon layer from surfactant molecules encapsulated in silica mesopores.

Mesoporous materials with high surface area, large pore volume, and adjustable pore size are promising in the fields of adsorption and heterogeneous catalysis. In this work, ordered mesoporous ceria structures were successfully prepared via nanocasting using SBA-15 as a template, with Ce(NO)·6HO or CeCl·7HO as ceria precursors. The materials were characterized before and after template removal.
