The arbitrarily primed polymerase chain reaction (AP-PCR) was used to measure the level of polymorphism of microsatellite (MCS)-associated repeating sequences of spleen, lung, and brain DNA in the F1 progeny of male BALB/c mice exposed to acute gamma-radiation at doses of 50 cGy and 200 cGy 15 days before mating with unirradiated females. The variability of MCS-associated sequences in the genome of brain and lung cells was higher as compared to the spleen cells of the progeny of unirradiated males. In the progeny of irradiated males, a 20% increase in MCS polymorphism of spleen DNA was found as an increase in the frequency of "non-parent" bands in DNA-fingerprints as against to the progeny of unirradiated males. Significant changes in this parameter were revealed for brain tissue and not for lung tissue only in the progeny of males exposed to 200 cGy. The results suggest a tissue-specific character of transmission of radiation-induced alterations in the genome of germ cells of male parents to the somatic cells of the progeny.

Objective: To explore the application value of using 3-dimensional (3D) printing (3DP) technology to create individualized vaginal molds for brachytherapy (BT) in high-dose-rate 3D cervical cancer through reverse engineering of needle placement.
Methods: Prospectively, 11 patients with cervical cancer were treated with 3DP-intracavitary/interstitial (IC/IS) BT using 3DP to create individualized vaginal molds. All patients were performed BT after completion of external beam radiotherapy (EBRT).

Purpose: This paper discusses an advanced version of our audiovisual-assisted therapeutic ambience in radiotherapy (AVATAR) radiolucent display systems designed for pediatric radiotherapy, enabling anesthesia-free treatments, video communication, and biofeedback. The scope of the AVATAR system is expanded here in two major ways: (i) through alternative mounting systems to accommodate a broader range of radiotherapy machines (specifically to fit robotic-arm and toroidal geometry photon radiotherapy and proton radiotherapy systems) and (ii) through additional hardware to provide video-calling, optimized audio for clear communication, and combined video inputs for biofeedback, translation, and other advanced functionalities.
Methods And Materials: Because robustness requires strong parts and radio-transparency requires thin, light parts, three-dimensional printing was used to rapidly prototype hollow structures and to iteratively improve robustness.
