Published: May 2004

Total energies for the six known polymorphs of plutonium metal have been calculated within spin and orbital polarized density-functional theory as a function of lattice constant. Theoretical equilibrium volumes and bulk moduli correspond well with experimental data and the calculated total energies are consistent with the known phase diagram of Pu. It is shown that a preference for the formation of magnetic moments, increasing through the alpha-->beta-->gamma phases, explains their position in the ambient pressure phase diagram and their anomalous variation of atomic density. A simple model is presented that establishes a relationship between atomic density, crystal symmetry, and magnetic moments which is universally valid for all Pu phases.

Insight into the enhanced removal of dimethoate by ferrate(Ⅵ)/biochar system: Contributions of adsorption and active oxidants.

J Hazard Mater

December 2024

Beijing Key Laboratory of Resource-oriented Treatment of Industrial Pollutants, School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Haidian District, Beijing 100083, China.

Dimethoate is a toxic organophosphorus insecticide and its contamination of water poses a threat to the surrounding ecosystem. In order to enhance the removal effect of ferrate (Fe(VI)) on dimethoate, modified graphene-like biochar (SIZBC) with reduction and adsorption properties was prepared in this study. Compared with Fe(VI) alone, the removal of dimethoate by Fe(VI)/SIZBC increased from 26 % to more than 97 %, and the reaction rate was accelerated by 34 times.

Purepose: The intraoperative femtosecond laser time, Cumulative Dissipated Energy (CDE), Effective Phacoemulsification time (EPT), and intraoperative fluid perfusion volume were compared under different model fragmentation modes using Catalys femtosecond laser system.

Methods: This was a single-center, prospective, randomized controlled study. A total of 120 eyes who underwent femtosecond laser-assisted cataract phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation in Xiamen Eye Center affiliated to Xiamen University from September 2022 to March 2023 were randomly divided into 4 groups to undergo pre-nucleus splitting in different ways: Group 1: six-split, Group 2: eight-split, Group 3: six-split + gridded softening, and Group 4: eight-split + gridded softening.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate cracked teeth and vertical root fracture observable on micro-CT images of extracted roots of mandibular incisors, after fiber post removal.

Materials And Methods: Thirty mandibular incisors were selected with any degree of slight incisal wear inspected with the aid of a stereomicroscope under 12x magnification, in order to have a group of young adult specimens according to the criteria of Hugoson et al. A sample of twelve mandibular incisors were selected, aged between 20 and 30 years old, with similar dentine volume and thickness.

Microgrids (MGs) have gained significant attention over the past two decades due to their advantages in service reliability, easy integration of renewable energy sources, high efficiency, and enhanced power quality. In India, low-voltage side customers face significant challenges in terms of power supply continuity and voltage regulation. This paper presents a novel approach for optimal power scheduling in a microgrid, aiming to provide uninterrupted power supply with improved voltage regulation (VR).
