Schizophrenia and epilepsy are two disorders that sometimes concur in the same person. According to the present classifications for the diagnosis of mental disorders, these patients would receive two different diagnoses without contemplating the possibility that they are related disorders. However, in some cases, it is possible to determine a probable relationship between both disorders that can be expressed in both symptoms and evolution. In this text, we present a case of a patient with epilepsy who developed a mystic and religious delusional picture. According to some authors, this theme may be more frequent in patients with epilepsy. In addition, temporal damage is associated in epilepsy and psychotic disorders. In this paper, we review the possible similarity between both disorders. Nevertheless, the relationship between both diseases is not that clear and more research is needed.

The endometrial and vaginal microbiota have co-evolved with the reproductive tract and play a key role in both health and disease. However, the difference between endometrial and vaginal microbiota, as well as their association with reproductive outcomes in women undergoing frozen embryo transfer, remains unclear. 120 women who underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and whole embryo freezing were enrolled.

The quantitative evaluation of motor function in experimental stroke models is essential for the preclinical assessment of new therapeutic strategies that can be transferred to clinical research; however, conventional assessment tests are hampered by the evaluator's subjectivity. We present an artificial intelligence-based system for the automatic, accurate, and objective analysis of target parameters evaluated by the ledged beam walking test, which offers higher sensitivity than the current methodology based on manual and visual counting. This system employs a residual deep network model, trained with DeepLabCut (DLC) to extract target paretic hindlimb coordinates, which are categorized to provide a ratio measurement of the animal's neurological deficit.

The research intended to explore the control ability of alginate oligosaccharide (AOS) on Penicillium expansum infection in pear fruit by priming response and its mechanism. The results showed that 100 mg L AOS treatment could significantly reduce the incidence of postharvest blue mold and the lesion diameter in pear fruits and maintain their quality. The defense responses induced by AOS treatment alone were relatively mild in pear fruits.

Reports of Dirofilaria immitis infection vary by location in the USA and Europe, with an occurrence gradient increasing towards the equator and warmer climates. In Australia, heartworm preventative guidelines are not climate specific, implying homogenous risk of infection across the continent. We systematically reviewed the published literature to assess if the distribution of D.

Objective: To investigate the association between ambient coarse particulate matter (PM) pollution and risk of acute schizophrenia episodes.
Methods: A time-stratified case-crossover study with a two-stage analytical approach was conducted to investigate the association between ambient PM pollution and schizophrenia admissions (an indicator for acute schizophrenia episodes) across 259 Chinese cities of prefecture-level or above during 2013-2017. A conditional logistic regression model was constructed to estimate city-specific changes in hospital admissions for schizophrenia associated with per interquartile range (IQR) increase in ambient PM, and the overall associations were obtained by pooling the city-specific associations using the random-effects model.
