Background: Myocardial injury after noncardiac surgery (MINS) is associated with an increased incidence of cardiac morbidity and mortality. Little is known about how these patients are managed.

Methods: We performed a single-centre retrospective chart review of patients referred to a postoperative clinic with the diagnosis of MINS.

Background: Diabetic myocardial disorder (DbMD, evidenced by abnormal echocardiography or cardiac biomarkers) is a form of stage B heart failure (SBHF) at high risk for progression to overt HF. SBHF is defined by abnormal LV morphology and function and/or abnormal cardiac biomarker concentrations.

Objective: To compare the evolution of four DbMD groups based on biomarkers alone, systolic and diastolic dysfunction alone, or their combination.

Cangrelor in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention After Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest.

J Clin Med

December 2024

Division of Cardiology, Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo, 27100 Pavia, Italy.

: Cangrelor provides rapid platelet inhibition, making it a potential option for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survivors undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, clinical data on its use after OHCA are limited. This study investigates in-hospital outcomes of cangrelor use in this population.

Background: It is crucial to distinguish type-1 myocardial infarction (T1MI) from type-2 myocardial infarction (T2MI) at admission and during hospitalization to avoid unnecessary invasive exams and inappropriate admissions to the acute cardiac care unit.

Objectives: The purpose of the study was to define a simple profile derived from commonly used biomarkers to differentiate T1MI from T2MI.

Methods: We prospectively enrolled in an observational study 213 iconsecutive patients with a provisional diagnosis of non-ST-elevation acute myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) admitted to the Cardiology Department.

Article Synopsis
  • The Qi Li Qiang Xin (QLQX) capsule shows promise in treating chronic heart failure, with the study aiming to uncover its mechanisms through metabolomics and lipidomics analysis.
  • A rat model of heart failure was used to assess the effects of QLQX compared to a control group (SHAM), a myocardial infarction (MI) group, and a valsartan group, with various metrics for cardiac function and morphology being measured.
  • Results indicated that QLQX improved heart function and reduced heart failure markers, while metabolomics analysis identified 17 significant plasma metabolites that were beneficially affected by QLQX treatment, indicating its role in biochemical pathways associated with heart health.
