Background: The relationship between thrombosis and cancer is based on evidence that cancer promotes prothrombotic changes in the host hemostatic system. The activation of blood coagulation is closely linked to tumor growth and dissemination.
Aims: To evaluate whether quantifications of plasma circulation tumor deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and thrombin-antithrombin complex could act as predictors for thrombotic events and death in patients with gastric or colorectal adenocarcinomas, while also evaluating the Karnofsky Performance Status.

Background: Platelet transfusions are given to preterm infants with severe thrombocytopenia aiming to prevent haemorrhage. The PlaNeT2/MATISSE trial revealed higher rates of mortality and/or major bleeding in preterm infants receiving prophylactic platelet transfusions at a platelet count threshold of 50 × 10/L compared to 25 × 10/L. The extent to which this evidence has been incorporated into clinical practice is unknown, thus we aimed to describe current neonatal platelet transfusion practices in Europe.

Background: Glanzmann thrombasthenia (GT) is a very rare autosomal inherited bleeding disease affecting megakaryocyte lineage with impacts on oral health such as gingival bleeding, which requires specific management protocols. Very few clinical cases have been published in the dental and hematologic literature.
Objectives: This study focuses on a series of 21 patients affected specifically by GT and their hemorrhagic prophylaxis management with the use of recombinant activated factor VII (rFVIIa) for dental extractions and full-mouth debridement.
