Aim: A person with Type A personality is an 'aggressor' compared with the rarely harried Type B. Although debrisoquine hydroxylase (CYP2D6) capacity has been associated with personality, no study has specifically investigated its association with personality Type A and B. Therefore the aim of this research was to study the impact of CYP2D6 on Type A and B personality.
Methods: Type A and B personality questionnaires were administered to 48 healthy patients undergoing elective orthopaedic surgery. After obtaining informed consent, patients were genotyped for the various CYP2D6 alleles by allele-specific polymerase chain reaction. Based on the genotypes, patients were grouped as extensive metabolizer (EM)1 (normal) (CYP2D6*1/*1), EM2 (intermediate) (CYP2D6*1/*4, CYP2D6*1/*5, CYP2D6*1/*9 and CYP2D6*1/*10) and EM3 (slow) (CYP2D6*4/*10, CYP2D6*5/*10, CYP2D6*10/*10 and CYP2D6*10/*17). Chi(2) was used to determine the relationship between the groups and personality types.
Results: The percentages of patients who were of the EM1, EM2 and EM3 groups were 20.8%, 52.1% and 27.1%, respectively. There was a significant difference (P = 0.032) between the three groups in terms of personality type, in which EM1 showed a tendency to be of personality Type A while EM2 and EM3 tended to be of personality Type B.
Conclusion: The study suggests that there is a relationship between CYP2D6 activity and Type A and B personality.

Introduction: Distress is common among cancer patients, especially those undergoing surgery. However, no study has systematically analyzed distress trends in this population. The purpose of this study was to systematically review perioperative rates of distress, as well as differences across cancer types, in cancer patients undergoing surgical intervention.

Objective: This work deals with the development of an analytical method for the analysis of body milk, cream, and oil. The objective is to develop a reliable, sensitive, and reproducible method suitable to assess the content of dexpanthenol in personal care products and to confirm the declared enantiomeric form.
Methods: Optimization of conditions for the extraction of panthenol from personal care products was carried out for the detection and quantification of panthenol and its enantiomers by achiral and chiral high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with spectrophotometric detection.
Since 2022, cases of hepatitis of unknown origin have been reported in children worldwide. Adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2) was identified as a cause, with most affected children having the HLA-DRB1 04:01 genotype. In this study, we hypothesized that HLA-DRB1 04:01 in the host may also be a potential predisposing factor of acute hepatitis caused by other viruses.

Hybrid closed loop technology is replacing multiple dose insulin and continuous subcutaneous insulin infusions as the preferred manner for managing type 1 diabetes in the community. Currently, there are no case reports or clinical guidelines to instruct practitioners on the safe peri-operative use of hybrid closed loop technology for patients requiring emergency surgery.

Introduction: This ecologic study explores the relationship between the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) and probable asthma-related emergency medical service (EMS) rates before and during the COVID-19 pandemic at the county level in Illinois.
Methods: The number of asthma-related EMS visits was obtained in all 102 counties for adults aged 18 years or more, and for 82 of these counties for children aged less than 18 from 2018 to 2021. They were converted into rates and examined in relation to SVI rankings.
