Simultaneous and Ultraspecific Optical Detection of Multiple miRNAs Using a Liquid Flow-Based Microfluidic Assay.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

Department of Chemistry, Yeungnam University, 280 Daehak-ro, Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do 38541, Republic of Korea.

Recent studies have reported that the cause and progression of many diseases are closely related to complex and diverse gene regulation involving multiple microRNAs (miRNAs). However, most existing methods for miRNA detection typically deal with one sample at a time, which limits the achievement of high diagnostic accuracy for diseases associated with multiple gene dysregulations. Herein, we develop a liquid flow-based microfluidic optical assay for the simple and reliable detection of two different target miRNAs simultaneously at room temperature without any enzymatic reactions.

Exercise and exerkines: Mechanisms and roles in anti-aging and disease prevention.

Exp Gerontol

January 2025

Shanghai anti-doping Laboratory, Shanghai University of Sport, Shanghai 200438, China; Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Ruijin Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai 200240, China. Electronic address:

Aging is a complex biological process characterized by increased inflammation and susceptibility to various age-related diseases, including cognitive decline, osteoporosis, and type 2 diabetes. Exercise has been shown to modulate mitochondrial function, immune responses, and inflammatory pathways, thereby attenuating aging through the regulation of exerkines secreted by diverse tissues and organs. These bioactive molecules, which include hepatokines, myokines, adipokines, osteokines, and neurokines, act both locally and systemically to exert protective effects against the detrimental aspects of aging.

Soil moisture drought and diverse impacts on vegetation across the Tibetan Plateau in recent three decades.

Sci Total Environ

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Lake and Watershed Science for Water Security, Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing, China. Electronic address:

Climate warming is presumed to cause drought on the Tibetan Plateau (TP), posing severe threats to local vegetation and ecosystems. Currently, soil moisture (SM) drought and its effects on vegetation growth have been rarely reported, due to lacking observations and data uncertainties. Here we used ERA5-Land, ESA CCI, and GLDAS Noah SM to investigate the spatiotemporal patterns of summertime (May-September) SM drought and its impacts on vegetation over 1995-2018.
