Background: acoustic analyses of speech naturalness.
Aim: to use voice onset time (VOT) measure as a parameter of speech naturalness, comparing the outcome of two stuttering treatment procedures.
Method: 12 adult stutterers were divided in two groups and submitted to the same Fluency Promotion Program (FPF). For GI: surface electromyography (EMG) was used as biofeedback.
Results: the results indicate that for GI 50% of the participants presented a more natural sounding speech after the FPF, whereas for GII only 17% of the participants demonstrated adequate speech naturalness in the same period.
Conclusion: although the number of participants of this research was small, the association of EMG to a FPP seems to produce a more natural sounding speech.

Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the subjective experiences of adults with different cochlear implant (CI) configurations-unilateral cochlear implant (UCI), bilateral cochlear implant (BCI), and bimodal stimulation (BM)-focusing on their perception of speech in quiet and noisy environments, music, environmental sounds, people's voices and tinnitus.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 130 adults who had undergone UCI, BCI, or BM was conducted. Participants completed a six-item online questionnaire, assessing difficulty levels and psychological impact across auditory domains, with responses measured on a 10-point scale.

Voice conversion (VC) systems have been developed to address this, yet accurately predicting phonemes in dysarthric speech remains a challenge due to its variability. This study proposes a novel approach that integrates Fuzzy Expectation Maximization (FEM) with diffusion models for enhanced phoneme prediction, aiming to improve the quality of dysarthric voice conversion.

Introduction: People who undergo a total laryngectomy lose their natural voice and depend on alaryngeal technologies for communication. However, these technologies are often difficult to use and lack prosody. Surface electromyographic-based silent speech interfaces are novel communication systems that overcome many of the shortcomings of traditional alaryngeal speech and have the potential to seamlessly incorporate individualized prosody.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine whether amplification of key words in discourse helped to memorize the words.
Method: We tested the effect of 135 participants' memory for key words in the discourse after intensity amplification (0, 5, 7, 9, and 11 dB), and we also tested physiological indicators to measure attention levels in another 30 participants. Adobe Audition was used to modulate the intensity of key words, whereas E-prime technology was used to present speech stimuli and test the accuracy of the memory of the participants.
