This work was done to investigate some epidemiological features of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in Tuberculous Struggle Dispensaries in Isparta between the years 1986-1997. For this purpose, 284 extrapulmonary tuberculosis patients who registered in Isparta, Yalvaç and Eğirdir Tuberculous Struggle Dispensaries were reviewed retrospectively. In Isparta, during the 12 year period it was found that the incidence of extrapulmonary tuberculosis changed between 13.0% and 36.8% (average 21.7%). The most common sites of the disease were pleura (52.8%) and lymph nodes (26.0%). The highest rate of the cases was found in the age group of 20-29. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis except the lymph nodes increased steadily with age. Although the average man/woman ratio was 1.6, a sex predominance in some forms of disease was found. It was concluded that extrapulmonary tuberculosis forms an important fraction of the total cases of tuberculosis and occurs in many organs in different age groups in Isparta.
