Accurate segmentation of the left ventricular myocardium in cardiac MRI is essential for developing reliable deep learning models to diagnose left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy (LVNC). This work focuses on improving the segmentation database used to train these models, enhancing the quality of myocardial segmentation for more precise model training. We present a semi-automatic framework that refines segmentations through three fundamental approaches: (1) combining neural network outputs with expert-driven corrections, (2) implementing a blob-selection method to correct segmentation errors and neural network hallucinations, and (3) employing a cross-validation process using the baseline U-Net model.

Neuroinflammatory Loop in Schizophrenia, Is There a Relationship with Symptoms or Cognition Decline?

Int J Mol Sci

Schizophrenia (SZ), a complex psychiatric disorder of neurodevelopment, is characterised by a range of symptoms, including hallucinations, delusions, social isolation and cognitive deterioration. One of the hypotheses that underlie SZ is related to inflammatory events which could be partly responsible for symptoms. However, it is unknown how inflammatory molecules can contribute to cognitive decline in SZ.

Research has shown that heightened emotionality often precedes psychotic experiences. Understanding how individuals cope with these emotions is crucial for psychosis. While prior studies on emotion regulation (ER) and psychosis have mainly relied on self-report questionnaires, recent research has increasingly utilised daily life methods.

A systematic review of diffusion tensor imaging and tractography in Dementia with Lewy Bodies and Parkinson's Disease Dementia.

Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, Level E4, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 2QQ, United Kingdom.

We reviewed studies that used diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and tractography to characterise white matter changes in Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) and Parkinson's Disease Dementia (PDD). The search included MEDLINE and EMBASE, and we used a narrative strategy to synthesise the evidence. Data was extracted from 57 studies, of which the majority were considered 'good quality'.
