Objective: To assess the contribution of chromosome on sperm production.
Methods: During a 2 year period from October 1999 to December 2001 a total of 200 male patients were included in the present study. The study was carried out at Kufa Medical College, Kufa, Iraq. Blood culture, chromosomal harvesting, Giemsa stain, C-band technique and C-band size calculation have been conducted according to the standard methods.
Results: No statistical differences have been recorded in the C-band size distribution level among the infertile groups compared to normal control. The functional relationship between C-band, euchromatin and the total length of the Y chromosome showed a strong correlation coefficient among the infertile groups (oligospermia, azoospermia) as well as the normal control.
Conclusion: In our qualitative study the C-band size of the Y chromosome has no effect on spermatogenesis. The decrease in the size of Y chromosome is due to the decrease in both the heterochromatin and euchromatin regions.

A substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) with extraordinary selectivity and an adequate upper stopband for C-band Satellite Communication (SATCOM) applications is proposed in this paper. The design comprises comb-shaped slots engraved on a half-mode SIW (HMSIW) that constitute a multimode resonator (MMR). Its performance is further ameliorated by applying the first and second iterations of the Minkowski fractal curve in the ground plane as a defected ground structure (DGS).

Using an evolution optimization algorithm, we optimized 121 structural parameters and achieved a minimum feature size of 150 nm, which greatly simplifies the fabrication using wafer-scale foundry services. We designed two structures, one achieving an 86% coupling efficiency into a single fiber, and the other exhibiting a full flat spectrum in the C band.

Specifically, we present ultra-short, highly efficient and fabrication-friendly mode-size converters based on metamaterial Fresnel lens-assisted tapers. This is achieved using a parameterized inverse-design approach, where the metamaterial phase shifters are realized using fabrication-friendly Manhattan geometries, by optimizing the width, length, and position of the phase shifters.
