A new protocol for synthesis of 2-heterocylylacetic acid derivatives involving conjugate addition of allyl mercaptan to an acrylate containing a tethered olefinic site followed by RCM (ring-closing metathesis) is described. In this series, sulfanyl derivatives were unreactive, while sulfoxide and sulfone analogues provided the corresponding thiazocines in fair to excellent yields. Use of the sulfoxide oxidation state as a protecting group for sulfides inert to RCM is demonstrated also. Thus, oxidation of sulfide 9 [N-allyl-N-[2-(allylthio)-4-(1H-indol-1-yl)-4-oxobutyl]-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide] followed by cyclization yielded the corresponding thiazocine sulfoxide 12. Deprotection (deoxygenation) of 12 was accomplished using Lawesson's reagent, producing 1-[[4-[4-(methylphenyl)sulfonyl]-3,4,5,8-tetrahydro-2H-1,4-thiazocin-2-yl]acetyl]-1H-indole (21) in 67% unoptimized yield.

Introduction: Preeclampsia (PE) is a common vascular pregnancy disorder affecting maternal and fetal metabolism with severe immediate and long-term consequences in mothers and infants. During pregnancy, metabolites in the maternal circulation pass through the placenta to the fetus. Meconium, a first stool of the neonate, offers a view to maternal and fetoplacental unit metabolism and could add to knowledge on the effects of PE on the fetus and newborn.

Electronic address:

The aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of glutamate molecular structure and protein on breast cancer cell metastasis and the potential inhibitory mechanism of cell-derived exosomes via MAPK signaling pathway. Breast cancer cell lines with high metastatic potential were selected by in vitro cell culture technique. The effects of specific inhibitors of glutamic acid on the proliferation and metastasis of breast cancer cells were studied.

Our objectives were to use a quantitative literature review to explore dietary and feed factors influencing apparent total-tract digestibility of dry matter (DMD), crude protein (CPD), neutral detergent fiber (NDFD), ether extract (EED), non-structural carbohydrates (NSCD), non-fiber carbohydrates (NFCD), and residual organic matter (rOMD) in equine diets, and to assess their contributions to digestible energy (DE) supplies. Data from 54 studies were modeled using linear mixed-effect regressions, with publication as a random effect to account for study variability. For each nutrient, five models were derived with explanatory variables including: dry matter intake (DMI; % BW/day) and DM (% as-fed), and dietary components (CP, organic matter, EE, NDF, acid detergent fiber, NSC, starch, and NFC as % of DM), and feed types (forage, non-forage fiber, legumes, cereal, and oil proportions).

Discarded floral foam as a source for green preparation of sustainable adsorbent for quick and efficient removal of phenoxyacetic acid herbicides from waters.

Due to the high toxicity and increasing consumption, efficient removal of phenoxyacetic acid herbicides (PAAHs) from water is imperative. In current study, a new adsorbent was prepared by modifying porous carbon derived from disused floral foam with chitosan (CS) (ACFC). Density functional theory (DFT) calculation uncovered that the amino and hydroxyl groups in the introduced CS played a critical role in the efficient adsorption of ACFC towards PAAHs.

This study aimed to construct oleofilms containing a binary mixture of proteins (soy protein hydrolysate and gelatin) and lipids (olive oil, stearic acid, and lecithin) using various ultrasonic emulsification processes. Initially, oleogels (OG20, OG40, OG60, OG80, and OG100) were fabricated with different sonication powers (20 %-100 %), along with control (OG) without sonication. Macrostructure, FTIR, DSC, stability coefficient (57.
