Pharmacologic properties of selective M1--cholinolytic preparation gastrocepin (pirenzepine), its advantages and disadvantages were analyzed. Special attention is given to cytoprotective effect of gastrocepin, Administration of the preparation in complex therapy for chronic recurrent pancreatitis, prophylaxis and treatment of the stress gastroduodenal ulcers and ulcerative hemorrhage is pathogenetically substantiated.
