Purpose: To determine whether radiation dose to patients can be reduced for clinical thoracic CT scans without loss of diagnostic information.
Materials And Methods: One hundred consecutive patients having clinical CT examinations of the thorax were included. The patients were divided into 4 groups, and the mAs setting determined from the patient's weight as follows (max. 300 and min. 100 mAs): group 1: mAs = weight in lbs. rounded to the next multiple of 10, plus 30 (mAs = wtR + 30); group 2: mAs = weight rounded to the next multiple of 10 (mAs = wtR); group 3: mAs = weight rounded to the next multiple of 10, minus 20 (mAs = wtR - 20); group 4: mAs = weight rounded to the next multiple of 10, minus 30 (mAs = wtR - 30). The neck, mediastinum, lungs, and upper abdomen were assessed for quality on a 4 point scale.
Results: Only at the lowest mAs levels did we see some degradation of image quality in the lower neck with an increase in streak artifacts. The other body regions all showed good or excellent image quality.
Conclusions: Radiation dosage can be reduced by more than half without loss of diagnostic quality, using this simple formula: mAs = weight in lbs. rounded to the next multiple of 10 minus 30 (mAs = wtR - 30).

IS ESG EFFECTIVE IN THE TREATMENT OF OBESITY AND ASSOCIATEDCOMORBIDITIES?: Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is more effective than lifestyle modifications alone for weight loss and improving obesity-related comorbidities. While it has less effect on weight loss compared to Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG) in the short to medium term, it offers similar comorbidities resolution to LSG. IS ESG A SAFE PROCEDURE, AND WHAT ARE ITS RISKS?: The safety profile of ESG is consistently supported in the literature.

Objectives: To investigate the image quality and diagnostic performance with ultra-low dose dual-layer detector spectral CT (DLSCT) by various reconstruction techniques for evaluation of pulmonary nodules.
Materials And Methods: Between April 2023 and December 2023, patients with suspected pulmonary nodules were prospectively enrolled and underwent regular-dose chest CT (RDCT; 120 kVp/automatic tube current) and ultra-low dose CT (ULDCT; 100 kVp/10 mAs) on a DLSCT scanner. ULDCT was reconstructed with hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR), electron density map (EDM), and virtual monoenergetic images at 40 keV and 70 keV.

Background: Fruit quality traits, including taste, flavor, texture, and shelf-life, have emerged as important breeding priorities in blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum). Organic acids and sugars play crucial roles in the perception of blueberry taste/flavor, where low and high consumer liking are correlated with high organic acids and high sugars, respectively. Blueberry texture and appearance are also critical for shelf-life quality and consumers' willingness-to-pay.

: Computed Tomography (CT) is crucial in medical diagnosis, particularly for head examinations. Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs) are pivotal in balancing diagnostic efficacy with radiation safety. International organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) provide guidelines for establishing DRLs, emphasizing their importance in optimizing radiation doses.

Libido plays a crucial role in influencing semen quality, yet the underlying regulatory mechanisms remain unclear. As a central axis in male goose reproduction, the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular-external genitalia (HPTE) axis may contribute to the regulation of this process. In this study, we established a rating scale for goose libido based on average number of massages to erection (ANM) and the erection type, and evaluated semen quality across the entire flock.
