Background: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy usually presents with acute reversible left ventricular apical hypokinesia and apical ballooning with basal hyperdynamic function. We describe an underreported case of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM), misinterpreted as apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) due to transient apical oedema in the recovery phase of the condition.
Case Summary: A 74-year-old Caucasian woman, presented to the emergency department complaining of retrosternal chest pain following, emotional stress.

Intracardiac masses are rare and potentially life-threatening entities with diverse clinical presentations. The prompt identification of cardiac masses is critical. However, even with the advancement we have in imaging modalities, diagnosing cardiac masses remains a formidable challenge.

Acute cardiovascular disorders are incriminated in up to 33% of maternal deaths, and the presence of sickle cell anemia (SCA) aggravates the risk of peripartum complications. Herein, we present a 24-year-old Caribbean woman with known SCA who developed a vaso-occlusive crisis at 36 weeks of gestation that required emergency Cesarean section. In the early postpartum period, she experienced fever with rapid onset of acute respiratory distress in the context of COVID-19 infection that required tracheal intubation and mechanical ventilatory support with broad-spectrum antibiotics and blood exchange transfusion.

Background/aim: Atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) commonly co-occur, significantly increasing morbidity and mortality. Poorly controlled AF can contribute to complications like HF and is associated with conditions, such as stroke and pulmonary embolism (PE). This report involves a man with AF who had persistent respiratory symptoms and left-sided chest pain, initially suspected to be PE, but eventually diagnosed as HF.

Currently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with tunability and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with high stability are promising nanomaterials for electrochemiluminescence (ECL), while Ru-based metal covalent organic frameworks (Ru-MCOFs) have rarely been reported. Herein, an ECL immunosensor based on a strong ECL-emitting Ru-MCOF was proposed for the sensitive detection of the cardiac troponin-I (cTnI). Imine-linked Ru-MCOF was prepared as an ECL emitter via solvothermal method using tris (4,4' -diamino-2,2' -bipyridine) ruthenium (II) (Ru(dbpy) ) as a precursor.
