Because of its food spoiling capacity on the one hand and its significant role in the production of industrially valuable products on the other, Bacillus coagulans is of economic concern. Several studies have revealed a great deal of diversity within the species and this has led to a number of taxonomic adjustments. The present study aims to clarify the diversity within Bacillus coagulans sensu stricto and determine the taxonomic status of the species. Therefore, a polyphasic study was performed on a set of B. coagulans strains from diverse habitats. Techniques as ARDRA, SDS-PAGE of whole cell proteins, FAME analysis, routine phenotypic tests and rep-PCR illustrate considerable intra-species heterogeneity, while 16S rDNA sequence comparison and DNA-DNA relatedness support the accommodation of these strains in one species. Although most techniques demonstrate appreciable heterogeneity among the Bacillus coagulans strains, the intraspecies groupings are not consistent throughout all the methods applied and are not supported by any economic, historic or practical traits. Therefore, a division in subspecies seems inappropriate. In attempt to achieve a better species delineation, an emended description of Bacillus coagulans is included.

Background: Liuweizhiji Gegen-Sangshen oral liquid (LGS), as a Chinese medicinal preparation, is developed from a Traditional Chinese medicinal formula consisting of six Chinese medicinal herbs, including Puerariae lobatae radix, Hoveniae semen, Imperatae rhizoma, Crataegi fructus, Mori fructus and Canarli fructus, and has been extensively utilized in the prevention and treatment of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) clinically. Previous study has demonstrated that LGS dose-dependently mitigated ALD in rat models. However, whether and how the main characteristic constituents of LGS (the flavonoid and polysaccharide fractions, LGSF and LGSP) contribute to the anti-ALD effect remains unclear.

Introduction: This study aimed to assess the protective efficacy of MF-06 as a potential alternative to antibiotics in mitigating intestinal mucosal damage in chicks infected with .

Methods: A total of 150 one-day-old SPF chicks were selected and randomly divided into five groups: control group (CK), probiotics group (EM), probiotics treatment group (PT), antibiotic treatment group (AT), group (SI), CK, AT and SI groups were fed a basal diet, EM and PT groups were fed a basal diet supplemented with 1.0 × 10 CFU/g ; PT, AT and SI groups were gavaged with 1.

Article Synopsis
  • Fermentation of Astragalus with Lactobacillus plantarum and Bacillus coagulans enhances the release of beneficial components and breaks down large molecules, leading to improved health benefits.
  • The study evaluated the effects of different concentrations of ALB (Astragalus + L. plantarum + B. coagulans) on largemouth bass over 28 days, revealing that the 0.5% ALB group (ALB0.5) had the best outcomes in terms of weight gain, enzyme activity, and overall gut health.
  • Additionally, the ALB0.5 group demonstrated better resistance against infections and improved immune gene expression, suggesting that this specific fermentation product significantly boosts the health and

Klebsiella pneumoniae (KP) is a zoonotic conditionally pathogenic bacterium with a high prevalence of infection. It often induces purulent inflammation of the rabbit lungs, kidneys and other tissues, with high morbidity and mortality. Bacillus coagulans (BC) has the ability to regulate the balance of host intestinal flora and improve host immunity.

In this study, we evaluated the impact of yeast cell wall prebiotics and multispecies probiotics on the gut microbiota, immune response, and growth performance of weaned piglets, as alternatives to antibiotics as growth promoters (AGPs). A randomized complete block design was employed, involving 160 piglets divided into four treatment groups during the nursery phase. The treatments applied throughout the experimental period were as follows: CONT+ = basal diet with halquinol (AGP); YCW = basal diet with yeast cell wall (cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast); SIM+ = basal diet with yeast cell wall + multispecies probiotic (Bacillus subtilis (2.
