This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of repeated subgingival instrumentation combined with 980 nm diode laser decontamination in the non-surgical treatment of deep periodontal pockets. A total of 40 otherwise healthy patients with generalized periodontitis, encompassing 1,168 sites with deep pockets, were included and baseline PPD, bleeding on probing (BOP), gingival recession (REC), clinical attachment level (CAL), and plaque index (PI) were recorded. Each patient underwent non-surgical laser-assisted periodontal therapy and was enrolled in a maintenance program with three-month recall visits during the first year of follow-up.

Atom probe tomography (APT) enables three-dimensional chemical mapping with near-atomic scale resolution. However, this method requires precise sample preparation, which is typically achieved using a focused ion beam (FIB) microscope. As the ion beam induces some degree of damage to the sample, it is necessary to apply a protective layer over the region of interest (ROI).

Spectrochemical analysis of trace elements in complex matrices is crucial across various fields of science, industry, and technology. However, this analysis is often hindered by background interference and the challenge of detecting ultralow analyte concentrations. Surface Enhanced Infrared Absorption (SEIRA) spectroscopy is emerging as a viable technique to address these challenges as it can successfully reveal soluble and unmodified analytes in a label-free manner through their interactions with a bioreceptor following site-specific labeling with small infrared-active probes.

The E2 ubiquitin (Ub)-conjugating enzyme primarily determines Ub conjugation as Ub-isopeptide (lysine), Ub-oxyester (serine/threonine) or Ub-thioester (cysteine). However, E2-specific Ub conjugation profiles within cells remain elusive. Here we developed the fusion E2-Ub-R74G profiling (FUSEP) strategy to access E2-specific Ub conjugation profiles in cells with amino acid resolution.

Isonitrile-derivatized amino acids are emerging as highly effective infrared (IR) probes for investigating the structures and dynamics of hydrogen (H)-bonds. These probes enable the quantification of chemical exchange processes in solute-solvent complexes via two-dimensional IR spectroscopy and hold significant promise for site-specific dynamic studies within proteins. Despite their potential, theoretical models that elucidate the solvatochromism of isonitriles remain underdeveloped.
