Italian children's diet is featured by too many sugars and animal proteins, few vitamins, mineral salts and fibres, the last ones mainly from fruits and vegetables. The aim of this work was to evaluate what are preferences, frequency and consumption of fruit in a sample of 134 children of a Lazio's Primary School, aged between 7 and 12. Our study has shown that a great children's percentage eats fruit daily, especially in the form of fresh fruit, and that their awareness of fruit's nutritive value is rather satisfactory, notwithstanding the sample's young age.
