The effects were examined of selected extracellular medium (ECM) components on the proliferation of medullary thyroid carcinoma cells and on the production of calcitonin and CGRP. Human TT cells and rat rMTC cells were cultured for 24, 48 and 72 hours on glass coated with type I collagen, fibronectin or poly-D-lysine. More pronounced proliferation was demonstrated by TT cells grown on poly-Dlysine or collagen in comparison with the control and less pronounced proliferation was typical of cells grown on fibronectin. On the other hand, rMTC cells were more markedly manifest on any ECM substrates than that on glass. Alterations in the proliferation were paralleled by changes in the expression of CT and CGRP.

Inflammation is a crucial factor in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) pathophysiology, but specific inflammatory biomarkers in ICH patients remain unclear. This study aimed to identify novel circulating inflammatory biomarkers for improved ICH prediction and diagnosis. We profiled expression levels of 92 cardiovascular disease related proteins in plasma from 26 matched ICH patients and controls using Olink technology.

RNA-binding protein Nrd1 plays a role in RNA polymerase II transcription termination. In this study, we showed that the orthologous NrdA is important in global mRNA expression and secondary metabolism in species. We constructed an conditional expression strain using the Tet-On system in mut.

-methyladenosine (mA) in eukaryotic RNA is an epigenetic modification that is critical for RNA metabolism, gene expression regulation, and the development of organisms. Aberrant expression of mA components appears in a variety of human diseases. RNA mA modification in has proven to be involved in sex determination regulated by and may affect X chromosome expression through the MSL complex.

Goldenberry and purple passion fruit contain bioactive compounds (BCs) that can prevent gastrointestinal cancers; hydrogel beads can protect and control their release in the gastrointestinal tract. This study aimed to develop an encapsulating material for fruit hydrogel beads (FHBs) to increase their bioaccessibility and to assess antiproliferative effects. A blend of goldenberry-purple passion fruit was encapsulated using ionic gelation and electrospraying.

Structural maintenance of chromosome-1A (SMC1A) is overexpressed in various malignancies including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). As a core component of the cohesin complex, SMC1A was initially recognized for its involvement in chromosomal cohesion and DNA-repair pathways. However, recent studies have unveiled its pivotal role in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), metastasis, and chemo- and radio-resistance in cancer cells.
