Background: This study examines the impact of Phα1β, a spider peptide derived from the venom of , on the Kv11.1 potassium channel in HEK293 cells transfected with the human ERG potassium channel. Phα1β inhibits high-voltage calcium channels and acts as an antagonist of the TRPA1 receptor, both of which play crucial roles in pain transduction pathways.

Pyrazinamide (PZA) is a key first-line antituberculosis drug that plays an important role in eradicating persister (TB) bacilli and shortening the duration of tuberculosis treatment. However, PZA-resistance is on the rise, particularly among persons with multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis. This nationwide study was conducted to explore the prevalence of mutations conferring PZA resistance, catalogue mutation diversity, investigate the associations of PZA resistance with specific lineages, examine co-resistance to 13 first- and second-line drugs, and evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of sequencing A and D genes for predicting PZA resistance.

To evade legal controls, new psychoactive substances (NPS), which have been designed as substitutes for traditional and synthetic drugs, are gradually dominating the drug market. Synthetic cannabinoids (SCs), which account for the majority of NPS, are rapidly being derivatized; consequently, controlling increasing abuse by merely listing individual compounds is difficult. Therefore, China has included the entire SC category of SCs listed as legal controlled substances since July 1, 2021.

New therapeutic agents developed for treating neurological disorders are often tested successfully on rodents. Testing in an appropriate large animal model where there is longer lifespan and comparable brain size to humans should improve translational success and is frequently expected by regulatory bodies. In this project, we aimed to establish a novel sheep model of Parkinson's disease as a large-brained experimental model for translational research.

Background: Alopecia is globally known as a distressing medical disorder that affects men and women, and current commercially available minoxidil solutions are formulated with irritant vehicles with frequent complaints of dermatologic adverse effects.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate further the compatibility of ready-to-use vehicles for the preparation of tailored formulations for alopecia treatment, namely TrichoSol™ (a ready-to-use vehicle for personalized hair solutions) and TrichoFoam™ (a ready-to-use vehicle for personalized foam formulations), in combination with minoxidil and other active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), to establish adequate beyond-use dates (BUD) for the given formulations.
Methods: Products under evaluation were compounded using TrichoSol™ or TrichoFoam™, with direct incorporation of the APIs into these vehicles.
