Phosphoinositide kinase, FYVE-type zinc finger containing (PIKFYVE) was recently identified as a causative gene for cataract. Pikfyve phosphatidylinositol phosphate kinase domain-deficient (pikfyve) zebrafish lens and PIKFYVE-inhibited human lens epithelial cells developed vacuoles, colocalized with late endosome marker RAB7. In this study, the pikfyvezebrafish with vacuole-like cataract underwent transcriptomic and proteomic analyses to explore the underlying mechanisms of vacuole formation.

- OST measurements were taken from 1,312 joints of 60 patients at two different times, comparing results with clinical activity measures like DAS28 and swollen joint counts.
- Findings showed that OST scores were significantly higher in patients with inflammatory arthritis, and changes in OST values were closely related to changes in clinical activity markers, suggesting OST could be a useful tool for monitoring disease activity.

Background: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in domestic cattle is an economically significant malignant neoplasm and has been documented primarily in ocular and periocular tissues, vulva, and perineum. SCCs are often slow-growing and locally invasive, but metastasis is uncommon. Increased risk of developing SCC has been predominantly associated with high levels of sunlight exposure and hypopigmentation (skin and conjunctiva).

The treatment of demyelinating optic neuritis (DON) in pregnant patients is challenging, especially when there is poor or no response to intravenous methylprednisolone pulse (IVMP) therapy or adjunctive treatments such as intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy. We herein report a case of a 28-year-old pregnant woman who experienced sequential severe vision loss in both eyes. She presented to a local hospital with the main complaint of sudden, painless vision loss in the left eye and was diagnosed with DON in the left eye.
