Natural attenuation is increasing in use as a low cost means of remediating contaminated soil and groundwater. Modelling of contaminant migration plays a key role in evaluating natural attenuation as a remediation option and in ensuring that there will be no adverse impact on humans and the environment. During natural attenuation, the contamination must be characterized thoroughly and monitored through the process. In this paper, attenuation mechanisms for both organic and inorganic contaminants, use of models and protocols, role of monitoring and field case studies will be reviewed.

Background: Intradermal injections of highly diluted botulinic neuroprotein is a popular aesthetic medicine procedure to improve the texture of the skin, enlarged pores, and fine lines.
Objective: The authors present a case report of nine subjects who received treatment with botulinic neuroprotein combined with an amino acid cluster and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid.
Methods: Nine women between the ages of 30 to 59 years old in a stable medical condition with moderate to severe lateral cantal wrinkles and smile lines at maximum expression and were recruited.

Despite decades of research, the pathogenesis of endometriosis remains unclear. Recent studies have shown that microRNAs play an important role in this condition. In this study, we found that the expression level of miR-450b-5p was increased in ectopic endometrial tissues and that GA-binding protein A (GABPA) and HOXD10 expression levels were decreased.

Iron-based phosphate NaFe(PO)(PO) (NFPP) has been regarded as the most promising cathode for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) thanks to its cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness. However, it is in a predicament from the intrinsic low ionic/electronic conductivity, becoming a great challenge for its practical application. Herein, the significant roles of the low-energy 3p-orbital and transition metal vacancies are emphasized in facilitating charge rearrangement and reconstructing ion-diffusion channels, from the perspectives of crystallography and electron interaction for the first time, and the modification mechanism is fully explored by various characterizations and theoretical calculations.

The COVID-19 pandemic may have increased anticoagulant initiation due to the thrombogenic nature of the disease or decreased due to the societal impact of the pandemic. We aimed to study the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on initiation of anticoagulants in Sweden. We conducted a single interrupted time series analysis on the monthly cumulative incidence of nonvitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOAC), warfarin, or heparins, before and after March 2020, using SCIFI-PEARL dataset.

For a given solar elevation, the levels of solar ultraviolet radiation at the Earth's surface are determined by the amounts of ozone, aerosols, and clouds, as well as by the reflectivity of the surface. Here, we study the evolution of these factors for three selected decades in the period 1950-2100 using results from simulations with Earth-System models (ESMs) participating in the 6 phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). The simulations for the future are based on three Shared Socioeconomic Pathways: SSP1-2.
